Where to Stay in Norden?
Norden is a small town. But since it’s so beautifully situated on the North Sea coast, there’s a great selection of wonderful accommodations.
The hotels in Norden are all located in the town center or near main roads. That’s super convenient — it means sights, restaurants, cafés, and shops are all easily within reach.
Vacation rentals in Norden are mostly located in regular residential neighborhoods. We think that’s really cool, because you get to see sides of the town you might never have explored otherwise.
Here’s our hand-picked selection of recommended vacation rentals and hotels in Norden.
Hotels in Norden
There are some seriously great places to stay in Norden. Some are romantic with excellent spa offerings, others are wonderfully unique, and still others are simply practical. Here are 4 very special hotels in Norden, Germany:
Romantik Hotel Reichshof
The 4-star Romantik Hotel Reichshof is a family-run business — and has been for three generations.
You can feel it throughout the hotel: a great attention to detail and a warm, welcoming feel-good atmosphere that runs through every corner.
A major plus is the Meer & Moor Spa with its pool, sauna landscape, and really excellent massages, as well as the hotel’s own slow-food restaurant Heimisch. There’s a strong emphasis on small-scale farming and regional products here. Wonderful!
The hotel sits right at the end of Norden’s pedestrian zone, so you can easily reach everything on foot.
Agli Hotel
Do you like things quirky and creative? Then the Agli Hotel is just right for you.
The Agli is located right on Norden’s market square next to the Ludgeri Church, in a historic building that has been a hotel since the days of the Kaiser.
Today it operates as a low-service hotel. Out of respect for the environment, daily room service is skipped, and there are even e-bike charging stations in the courtyard.
The creatively designed rooms and breakfast room also feature great workspaces, in case you want to work from the hotel. We love that!
Stadthotel-Garni Smutje
The 3-star superior Hotel Smutje is located in the town center at the end of the pedestrian zone and is truly a great fit for everyone.
Traveling solo, with a partner, with kids, or with a dog — you’ll find simple but super cozy lodging here. You can even choose between a regular room and an apartment with a small kitchenette.
Oh, and by the way: “Smutje” is Low German for “ship’s cook.” The hotel started out as just a restaurant.
Hotel Ocean

The small Hotel Ocean with just 8 rooms is located in Norden-Norddeich. So you get the best of both worlds: you’re only a 15-minute bike ride from the town center and just minutes from the beach in Norddeich.
In the neighborhood, the hotel barely stands out — it blends so perfectly into the quiet residential area.
And it’s peaceful inside, too. A relaxed atmosphere, cozy rooms, and thanks to the hotel’s small size, no big rush at breakfast. Truly restful.

Vacation Rentals in Norden
Not in the mood for a hotel? Norden also has some fantastic vacation rentals. Here are 3 very special options:
Vacation Rental Greta
The Greta vacation rental is seriously cool! Stone walls, an old fireplace, high ceilings, and a totally creative mix of modern and industrial décor. It’s almost got a New York vibe.
You can definitely feel right at home here as a couple. And thanks to its central location on the pedestrian zone, the market square, Ludgeri Church, and the Tea and Local History Museum are just a stone’s throw away.
Stadtvilla Stöhr
The Stadtvilla Stöhr offers plenty of space for the whole family.
The best part: this light-filled old-building apartment is centrally located yet wonderfully quiet — on Bleicherslohne, one of Norden’s most beautiful streets, lined with historic houses and large gardens.
The high ceilings and partly antique furnishings give the place a shabby-chic character that makes it a truly special place to stay in Norden for families.
Gulfhof Fresena
Just outside the town of Norden, surrounded by fields, lies the Gulfhof Fresena — a historic farmhouse with modern 5-star vacation rentals and a sauna area.
The apartments are lovingly furnished and offer space for one to six people.
We especially love that during the renovation, old building materials like doors, windows, and stones were salvaged and reused. That makes the property not only truly beautiful but also authentic.
By car — and there’s of course a parking spot available — it takes less than ten minutes to get into town from here.
