Gent Hotel 1898 The Post
The 1898 The Post is without a doubt one of the most breathtaking hotels in Ghent. It’s centrally located in the historic district, between the Korenmarkt and the picturesque Graslei.
The enormous building almost feels like a palace — and as the name suggests, it was once a post office. One of the largest in all of Belgium, no less. Many historic details, like old mailboxes and original window frames, have been lovingly preserved.
The 38 rooms and suites are individually designed and radiate pure elegance. High ceilings, antique furniture, warm earth tones, and refined accents in gold, bronze, and dark leather. Historic luxury, in a word.
The large windows offer stunning views over Ghent’s old town, and there’s an open fireplace in the spacious common area.
Another highlight is the cocktail bar, which serves excellent drinks alongside a fantastic view of the skyline — including from an open-air terrace.
A daily optional breakfast buffet fuels you up before you head out to explore. Private parking is available for guests arriving by car.
