Hotel am Delft
Hotel am Delft is a 4-star hotel right on Emden’s inner harbor. From the rooms, you look directly out over the water and the city center — it’s seriously one of the best spots in town to watch daily life unfold from above.
The single rooms are just as comfortable and well-appointed as the doubles, and some even have an electric fireplace for an especially cozy evening vibe.
That feel-good atmosphere carries through the whole hotel. Warm colors, a sauna, and a large terrace — also overlooking the water — perfect for breakfast, afternoon coffee, or evening cocktails.
Stadthuuske
The Stadthuuske sits in Emden’s city center on a gorgeous street lined with historic buildings, right next to a canal.
The vacation apartment is decorated exactly to our taste — somehow eclectic and colorful, yet everything works together and gives you that wonderful feeling of “being at home on vacation.”
Overflowing bookshelves, a squishy leather sofa, and an adorable kitchen. It’s also a little reminiscent of a stylish apartment in Amsterdam — which honestly makes it even better!
We totally fell in love with the Stadthuuske and would move right in if we could. Practically move-in ready, right?!
Haus Deichgraf Emden
Haus Deichgraf Emden is a large country house just outside the city. It’s about a 15-minute drive to Emden’s center, but in return you get real peace and quiet and a chance to truly switch off.
The studio apartment has a rustic feel with lots of beautiful wooden elements — the perfect setting for a glass of wine at the end of the day.
And it’s not just the apartment that’s spacious: there’s also a large garden and plenty of land where you might just run into chickens and goats. How great is that?
At Haus Deichgraf, you get the best of both worlds — a countryside retreat with easy access to Emden whenever you feel like exploring.
Alt-Emder Bürgerhaus
The Alt-Emder Bürgerhaus is a 3-star hotel housed in a truly beautiful historic building dating back to 1865.
The facade reminds us of the grand old hotels of New York — just on a much smaller, more intimate scale. But instead of an American vibe, you’ll find genuine East Frisian charm inside!
Throughout the hotel you’ll find maritime furnishings, old paintings, and photographs tracing Emden’s city history.
The historic center and all the major sights are only about a ten-minute walk away — making the Alt-Emder Bürgerhaus a great pick for first-time visitors to Emden. Authentically East Frisian and centrally located.
Ferienhaus Anno1875
Ferienhaus Anno1875 is a small East Frisian brick house in the Uphuusen district, a little outside the city center.
From the outside, it still looks like it did in the old days — charmingly weathered and full of character. But step inside and you’ll find yourself in modern, bright, and surprisingly spacious rooms.
That contrast makes Ferienhaus Anno1875 a fantastic place to stay for families visiting the Emden area. It’s a ten-minute drive from the center, with plenty of space, real privacy, and even a play area for kids.
Ferienwohnung am Schwanenteich
The vacation apartment at Schwanenteich with its large rooftop terrace is seriously bright, wonderfully spacious, and looks like it stepped straight out of a home décor magazine.
There’s definitely room for the whole family here, and pets are welcome too. Fantastic!
Another big plus is the setting. It’s pleasantly quiet and green — and all of that right in the middle of the city. So you really do get the best of both worlds: total relaxation without sacrificing easy access to Emden’s highlights.
Book apartment at Schwanenteich
Boardinghaus am Borkumkai
The Boardinghaus am Borkumkai is located — as the name suggests — right next to the ferry terminal for Borkum. That’s super convenient if you’re planning a quick stopover in Emden before heading out to the island.
The rooms are simple, but each has a small kitchenette and a terrace. Really, what more do you need for a short stay?
And if you do have more time, Emden’s attractions aren’t far at all. It’s about a 30-minute walk to the city center and all the museums.
