Hotels in Doha
While Dubai and Abu Dhabi are slowly blurring the lines between old and modern, Doha still wears its contrasts proudly — and that’s exactly what makes it so fascinating.
The hotels here are seriously well-equipped across every category: you’ll almost always find a pool, a spa or fitness center, and multiple restaurants.
But how do you choose the right hotel in Doha, and which neighborhood is the best place to base yourself?
We’ve handpicked the finest places to stay in Doha and organized them into four categories to make your decision easier.
Hotels in West Bay
West Bay is Doha’s central district, sitting right on the bay. This modern, meticulously planned part of the Qatari capital is home to some of the tallest skyscrapers in the city.
The absolute top attraction here is the seven-kilometer-long waterfront promenade, the Corniche. It stretches south to the harbor, right next to the anchorage for the region’s iconic sailing vessels — the dhows.
W Doha

Right in the heart of the financial center and diplomatic quarter along the Corniche, the W Doha is a modern lifestyle hotel with a great pool, fitness center, full-service spa, and even a nightclub.
Make sure you book ahead at the three award-winning restaurants: the Asian-inspired “Spice Market,” the European “Market,” and the Italian “La Spiga.”
The designer hotel is thoroughly stylish throughout, with individually decorated rooms and suites that can sleep up to four guests.
The massive City Center Shopping Mall — with its distinctive roof architecture and five floors of shopping — is just 200 meters away.
JW Marriott Marquis City Center Doha

At 50 floors, the 5-star JW Marriott Marquis stands right next to the City Center Shopping Mall. The rooms are generously sized and elegantly furnished, with floor-to-ceiling windows offering stunning views of the city or the Arabian Gulf.
Several restaurants serve Greek, South American, and international cuisine. The standout is the gourmet “Shanghai Club” on the 43rd and 44th floors, which serves innovative Asian cuisine — and during the day, the views stretch all the way to Sheraton Park on the Corniche and its impressive water features.
The hotel also has a 24-hour fitness center, a wellness area with eight treatment rooms, and an outdoor pool.
Our tip: Until April 2019, this hotel was part of the Shangri-La chain; it now belongs to the luxury JW Marriott brand. We stayed here back when it was still a Shangri-La and can wholeheartedly recommend it.
City Centre Rotana Doha

The City Centre Rotana Doha is a 5-star hotel spread across 47 floors. Guests can choose from standard rooms, suites, and apartments — all with floor-to-ceiling windows and views of the city and the sea.
For an extra-exclusive experience, there’s Club Rotana — essentially a hotel within the hotel — spanning eight specially appointed floors. Its private lounge on the 24th floor offers a genuinely personalized service experience.
The hotel also has a well-equipped Bodylines Fitness & Wellness Club and a beautiful outdoor pool with water terraces. There’s even a pool bar where you can be served right in the water.
Hotels around Souq Waqif
Souq Waqif is the grand traditional market in Doha’s historic center, at the southern end of the Corniche. It’s an almost overwhelming mix of oriental goods, spices, seasonal delicacies, clothing, jewelry, perfumes, and handicrafts.
Live music, art, and cultural performances add to the atmosphere. If you book accommodation at or near the Souq, you’ll be right in the middle of Doha’s cultural heartbeat.
Al Najada Doha Hotel by Tivoli

The Al Najada Doha Hotel is just a five-minute walk from Souq Waqif, in the Al Najada neighborhood — one of Doha’s oldest districts. Two streets away is another of Doha’s highlights: the historic city fort Al Koot.
The hotel is brand new and modern, yet its distinctly Arabian architecture blends seamlessly into the surrounding old quarter.
Rooms are generously sized and decorated in warm tones, with private balconies, seating areas, and carpeted floors.
There’s an international restaurant serving a daily breakfast buffet, plus a fitness area.
Souq Waqif Boutique Hotels

This hotel is actually nine historic, fully restored individual buildings located directly on the grounds of Souq Waqif.
Each building has a handful of rooms and suites, all individually decorated. The Bismillah — with just six suites — is considered the oldest hotel in Doha, dating back to the 1950s.
At Al Jasra, you can stay in one of four Amiri designer suites.
The Arumaila carries the grandeur of a medieval oriental fortress, while the Musheireb lavishes its guests with the finest fabrics and drapes in the most beautiful colors.
The complex also includes eight restaurants and a spa.
Nearby you’ll find not only the Souq itself, but also the Museum of Islamic Art and Doha’s former fire station — today home to numerous artists’ studios.

Alwadi Hotel Doha - MGallery

The Alwadi Hotel Doha – MGallery is a 5-star boutique hotel just steps from Souq Waqif and the Corniche.
It strikes a lovely balance between preserving the historic character of the old town and offering modern, high-end comfort.
Rooms are bright and contemporary, each equipped with a BOSE docking station and an espresso machine.
The hotel also has a spa, a rooftop pool, a fitness center, and six restaurants — plenty of options for every mood.
Beachfront Hotels
Doha does have a city beach, but a strict dress code applies there — regular swimwear isn’t allowed, and women are required to wear a burkini. The good news: this doesn’t apply to private hotel beaches.
At a hotel beach, you can relax and sunbathe just as you would anywhere else. They’re clean and well-maintained, with turquoise water, lounge chairs, and a beach bar. If you want your Doha trip to have a real summer-vacation feel, a beachfront hotel is absolutely worth it.
Banana Island Resort Doha by Anantara
Banana Island is a horseshoe-shaped luxury resort island off the coast, reachable by a twenty-minute ferry ride from Doha. You can choose from rooms and suites, beach bungalows, or villas built directly over the water.
The resort is very family-friendly and alcohol-free.
A golf course, tennis court, lagoon pool, diving school, and private cinema keep guests busy. From your room, you can look out over the open sea and the Doha skyline at the same time — seriously hard to beat.
Sheraton Grand Doha Resort & Convention Hotel

At the northern end of the Corniche, the iconic futuristic pyramid of the Sheraton Grand Doha Resort dominates the waterfront — it’s one of the city’s most recognizable landmarks. Lit up at night, the view is seriously spectacular.
The expansive grounds include landscaped gardens and a private sandy beach.
The hotel is also home to the “Irish Harp,” an Irish sports pub with twelve large screens and all the food and drinks you’d expect — above all, great beer.

Sharq Village & Spa, a Ritz-Carlton Hotel

The Sharq Village & Spa sits about three kilometers from Souq Waqif, right on the water. It’s slightly outside the center, but only ten kilometers from the airport — which makes it a particularly smart choice if you’re in Doha for a stopover.
This high-end luxury wellness resort is designed in Arabian style and consists of 14 villa buildings, a sprawling wellness area, five restaurants, and a hotel-owned souq with boutiques and cafés.
The private beach stretches 350 meters, and the bathing facilities are seriously impressive — including a 1,400-square-meter infinity pool.
One of the restaurants is the well-known “Parisa,” the only spot in Qatar serving Persian cuisine. Honestly, the lavish Persian-style decor alone is worth a visit.
Budget Hotels
Doha has plenty of luxury hotels with all the bells and whistles, but there are also some more affordable options. They’re not as lavishly equipped, but they’re well-kept and clean — and most still have a pool, a fitness center, and at least one restaurant.
Zubarah Hotel

The Zubarah Hotel is located a bit outside the city center — about three kilometers southwest of Souq Waqif — in an elegant six-story building.
It’s a classic boutique hotel with a welcoming, family atmosphere that draws both leisure travelers and business guests. On-site you’ll find a wellness area with massage treatments, a sauna, and beauty services, plus a fitness center and a restaurant.
The whole hotel is furnished in a luxurious modern style, with carpeted rooms decorated in warm tones and a subtle Arabian touch. Great value for where to stay in Doha without overspending.
Kingsgate Hotel Doha

The Kingsgate Hotel is centrally located in the historic Al Ghanim neighborhood, just a five-minute walk from Souq Waqif.
The ten-story building was completely renovated in 2011, and from the upper floors you get a great view of the city and the sea.
Rooms are generously sized and come with a fully equipped kitchenette — handy for longer stays.
The hotel also has the Selection Restaurant with a daily breakfast buffet, a fitness center, an indoor pool, and a sauna.
For getting around, the Karwa Station bus stop is just 350 meters away, with most of Doha’s 50 local bus lines stopping there — giving you affordable access to the whole city.
