How to Find Affordable Hotels in Bremen
Because Bremen is something of an under-the-radar pick as a city destination in Germany, hotels here are comparatively affordable.
The upside is that you can get a nice double room at a simple city hotel for under 100 euros. If you’re willing to compromise a little on design and amenities, you can even find places to stay for around 50–70 euros per night.
Great deals pop up in Bremen all the time — it’s worth it to book in advance, but even last-minute you’ll often find really nice, affordable double rooms.
The Best Neighborhoods to Stay in Bremen
We recommend these three areas for where to stay in Bremen:
- Right in the center: The city center offers the ideal location between the train station and the Weser river, right next to the top highlights.
- Near the train station: Very affordable lodging and great connections. Also ideal if you’re planning day trips from Bremen.
- Along the Weser: Beautiful water views are guaranteed. Hotels are a bit pricier, though.

Affordable stays in downtown Bremen

The city center is the best choice if you want to stay close to Bremen’s most important attractions.
A hotel in the city center has the advantage that your walks to the top highlights are very short. You’re about five minutes from the Weser and 15 minutes from the main train station.
Most of Bremen’s attractions and the historic center are right around the corner. Plus, the selection of restaurants and shops in the city center is huge!
Despite the central location, you’ll find some solid budget hotels in the center where you pay under 100 euros for a double room. It’s usually not right in the Schnoor quarter or on the market square, but very close by.
Advantages of a hotel in the city center
- Close to the most important attractions
- Wide selection of restaurants & shopping
- Excellent connections
- Many hotels with great value for money
Disadvantages of a hotel in the city center
- Lots of hustle and bustle, not much peace and quiet
- Fairly touristy
Our Hotel Recommendations for Downtown Bremen
The Numa Bremen Saga is located on the edge of the old quarter and is a great base for getting anywhere easily. The décor is really stylish, and as a bonus you can use the nearby fitness center for free.
Affordable stays near the train station in Bremen

Staying right by the train station is your best bet if you’re arriving by train or bus and want the most affordable accommodation in Bremen.
The train station district in Bremen is extremely well connected and you can stay there very affordably. Train station neighborhoods often get a bad reputation, but in Bremen the area is a genuinely great choice as a base for sightseeing.
You’ll also find the cheapest hotels in Bremen here — a basic double room starts at just 50–75 euros.
It’s a 15–20 minute walk to the center and most sights. The lovely Bürgerpark is just a few minutes away on foot. If you’re planning some day trips from Bremen, the location near the main train station is of course perfect.
There are also some good restaurants around the train station, though the selection isn’t quite as large as in the city center.
Advantages of a hotel near the train station
- Many affordable hotels
- Incredibly well connected
- You can walk to the center quickly
Disadvantages of a hotel near the train station
- The area isn’t the prettiest
- You’re not staying right next to the main attractions
Our Hotel Recommendations near the Train Station in Bremen
Our top pick is the Meininger Hotel Bremen. It’s a cool mix of hotel and hostel. There’s a room category to suit families, solo travelers, groups of friends, and couples alike — and the value for money is seriously fantastic!
The communal areas, like the cozy lobby, the Game Zone, and the guest kitchen, round out the whole package. We’ve stayed at the Meininger ourselves and would come back anytime.
By the way, Meininger Hotels are available in 36 cities and are always a great choice when you’re looking for a lovely, budget-friendly place to stay — especially if you’re traveling with kids.
Affordable stays along the Weser in Bremen

Hotels along the Weser are ideal for stunning views and staying in what is probably the most beautiful part of Bremen.
Living right on the water has its own special charm. You immediately get a sense of tranquility and can step out for a walk along the water in the evening or early morning.
The selection of hotels along the Weser is fairly small and the hotels are a bit pricier than in other areas. For our hotel picks, expect to pay around 100 euros for a double room.
Most hotels are located a bit outside the center along the river — but you’re well connected to the attractions by public transit, or you can take a leisurely walk into the center.
Advantages of a hotel along the Weser
- Great views
- Lots of peace and quiet
- Excellent selection of unique hotels
Disadvantages of a hotel along the Weser
- Prices are a bit higher
- Some hotels are further from the center
Our Hotel Recommendations along the Weser in Bremen
We’re particularly fond of the John & Will Silo-Hotel by Guldsmeden. The hotel is housed in an old Kellogg’s factory and you stay in grain silos with views of the Weser. But don’t worry — the interiors have little in common with an old industrial building. The rooms are super modern, stylish, and incredibly cozy.
