Breakfast in the hotel’s Salon is seriously sensational. Our personal highlight? The bread — absolutely incredible.

Wiener Gäste Zimmer
The Wiener Gäste Zimmer is one of the most unique boutique hotels in Vienna — tucked on the first floor of a historic brewery that still produces vinegar and oil. The design of the five rooms reflects that industrial heritage beautifully: rustic and raw in equal measure.
On the second floor, you can swim a few laps in the pool or unwind after a sauna in the terrace garden.
Breakfast features regional, organic products — some of them made right on-site.
The hotel is not right in the city center, but Vienna’s main train station and the historic district are just a few subway stops away.
Our tip: The hotel offers guided brewery tours where you can sample the products and pick up some great souvenirs to take home.
Boutiquehotel Stadthalle
The Boutiquehotel Stadthalle is a green oasis with a genuine commitment to sustainability — the hotel actually aims for a zero-energy balance, which we think is seriously impressive.
Collected rainwater irrigates the beautiful garden, and solar panels heat the hotel’s water. We love that kind of thinking.
The rooms are lovingly and very individually decorated. Breakfast is organic and locally sourced — including honey from the hotel’s own rooftop hives — and is served out in the garden.
This 3-star boutique hotel sits on Vienna’s Hackengasse, close to the Westbahnhof train station, with excellent subway connections into the city center.
Our tip: You can rent a bicycle at the hotel and explore Vienna on two wheels. A lovely bike path leads directly from the hotel into the heart of the city.
Superbude Wien Prater
The Superbude is, for us, the coolest design hotel in Vienna and our best value pick for families who want a one-of-a-kind stay without breaking the bank.
You can choose from a range of highly individual room types — Cinema Bude, Birdhouse, or Reading Room, to name just a few.
In the Game City Bude, up to five people can pile into one massive bed and play Nintendo Switch together. The Four-Bed Bude Family with its extraordinary bunk bed for kids is our favorite room for families. And in the Pension Falter room, you sleep in a suspended bed with a view of the Prater.
At the Superbude, hotel comfort meets brilliant design and a relaxed hostel vibe. We were thoroughly impressed.
The location right at the Prater — with views of the amusement park — is also really lovely, especially if you’re exploring Vienna with kids.
Hotel Schani Wien
The Hotel Schani Wien goes all-in on innovative technology, sustainability, and modern design — and it really shows.
You can check in and out via your phone and unlock your room just as easily with your smartphone.
We especially love the canopy bed in the mezzanine suite and the gorgeous drinking water fountain on the ground floor, which serves up the finest Viennese spring water.
The hotel’s location right near the main train station makes it super convenient if you’re arriving by rail.
If you’d rather be closer to the historic center, the sister property Schani Salon Wien is worth a look.
Hotel Motto
At Hotel Motto, French flair meets Scandinavian minimalism and Viennese coziness. The mix sounds wild — and honestly, it is.
Some rooms are styled in the Parisian manner of the 1920s, complete with Motto wallpaper and extraordinary lampshades.
The real standout is the hotel restaurant Chez Bernard. The French joie de vivre comes through right on the plate. A little Paris love in the heart of Vienna!

This one-of-a-kind design hotel is centrally located in Vienna’s museum district, just a few minutes’ walk from the old quarter, and feels like stepping into a colorful circus world.
The rooms are a wild mix of vintage and designer furniture, circus-inspired décor, and a touch of luxury. Everything here is surprising, exotic, and bursting with personality.
Don’t miss the rooftop bar on top of the hotel — the panoramic vista over Vienna is seriously spectacular.
