Logement Petit Beijers
Host Janine made two dreams come true at once. In 2020, she opened Soep-er, the first soup bar in Utrecht, funding it through a crowdfunding campaign.
And because the soup bar was such a hit, she went ahead and took over the rest of the building and the neighboring house, opening this truly fantastic boutique hotel.
You can feel the personal touch in every detail. Each of the nine rooms is different, and although the buildings date back to the 15th century, the décor is stylish and modern.
The location right in the heart of the city is perfect. Breakfast is really good and is of course served down in the soup bar.

MUZE Hotel Utrecht
The Muze Hotel is run by an entire family: siblings Cocky and Paul, along with their daughters Bo, Puk, and Belle, have breathed new life into the old hotel.
And that’s no exaggeration. The building had been a hotel for many years before sitting empty for a long time and slowly falling apart. The renovation took three years — and it was absolutely worth it.
Each of the six rooms is inspired by a different museum in Utrecht — there’s a design room, a railroad room, and a botanical room.
The science room is equipped not only with a third bed but also with a telescope — perfect for families.
Daen's Greenhouse
What do a flower shop, a clothing store, a café, and a boutique hotel have in common? Not much at first glance, right?
But that’s exactly the fun combination you’ll find at Daen’s Greenhouse. Three stylishly decorated rooms in a historic building right in the city center, with the flower shop, clothing store, and in-house café downstairs — where you’ll enjoy breakfast every morning.
Honestly, we think it’s a fantastic combination — Daen’s might just be the hippest design hotel in Utrecht.
Mother Goose Hotel
The Mother Goose Hotel has 23 rooms spread across four floors. Each floor has its own color — white, gray, brown, and black — and on each floor there are rooms of different sizes: small, medium, large, and suites.
A seriously impressive small hotel right in the heart of Utrecht. The rooms are decorated with great attention to detail, and from the top floor you get a truly stunning panorama over Utrecht’s historic center.
If there’s a particular room you fall in love with, you can mention it in a note when booking, and they’ll do their best to make it happen.
The hotel doesn’t have a breakfast room, so your breakfast is brought directly to your room — a very practical solution.
The Nox Hotel
The stylish Nox Hotel in the center of Utrecht markets itself with the slogan “Experience the magic of the night.”
As soon as you walk in, you understand why. The décor features a cozy dark blue palette, and the moon is a recurring design element in every room.
It definitely looks like the kind of place where you’d sleep particularly well — one of the more atmospheric Utrecht boutique hotels on this list.
Eye Hotel
The Eye Hotel is a small design hotel on the edge of the city center. We stayed here on our last visit to Utrecht and can recommend it wholeheartedly.
The rooms are stylishly decorated and breakfast is solid.
Traveling with kids? The Eye Hotel is a great pick, since it offers two family rooms — something that’s genuinely hard to find among the smaller hotels in Utrecht.
Hotel Beijers
Hotel Beijers doesn’t call itself a boutique hotel — it prefers the term antique hotel.
Owner Bert Degenaar is a TV star in the Netherlands. The Dutch version of “Bares für Rares” is filmed here, and there couldn’t be a better setting for it. Every room is individually decorated with perfectly curated antiques.

Staying in a canal apartment in Utrecht
If you want a truly extraordinary place to stay in Utrecht, you should seriously consider booking a night in a canal apartment.
Not familiar with the term gracht? Here’s a quick explanation: a gracht is the Dutch word for canal — so grachten are the waterways that wind through Utrecht.
You can’t get any closer to the water than these accommodations, because they’re not located in the houses above the canal, but rather in the vaulted spaces built directly along the canal’s edge.
It sounds unusual, but it’s actually a unique feature of Utrecht — and the reason all these rooms have those characteristic vaulted ceilings.
