In a nutshell
- We’ve looked at all the boutique hotels in Utrecht and show you the 7 coolest ones: All of them have a good location and are rated above average.
- Our favorite boutique hotels in Utrecht are the Petit Beijers and the Muze Hotel, as both are run very personally and with a lot of love.
- If you are looking for a very special place to stay in Utrecht, you absolutely must stay in a canal apartment. This is typical of Utrecht and truly unique.
Logement Petit Beijers

Host Janine has made two dreams come true. In 2020, she opened Soep-er, the first soup bar in Utrecht. She financed it through a crowdfunding campaign.
And because the soup bar was such a great success, she immediately took over the rest of the building and the neighboring building and opened this really great boutique hotel – the Petit Beijers.
You can see the personal touch in every detail. Each of the nine rooms is different and although the houses date back to the 15th century, the furnishings are stylish and modern.
The location right in the center is perfect. The breakfast is really good and is, of course, served in the soup bar.
If you also dream of opening a boutique hotel, then come to Logement Petit Beijers. Here you can see how it’s done.
Muze Hotel

The Muze Hotel is run by a whole family: Siblings Cocky and Paul with their daughters Bo, Puk and Belle have given the old hotel a new lease of life.
And that’s no exaggeration. The building used to be a hotel for many years before it stood empty for a long time and slowly fell into disrepair. The renovation took three years and was well worth it.
Each of the six rooms is inspired by a different museum in Utrecht – there is a design room, a railroad room and a botanical room.
The Science room is not only equipped with a third bed, but also with a telescope – perfect for families.
Daen's Greenhouse

What do a flower store, a clothes store, a café and a boutique hotel have in common? Not so much at first glance, right?
But that’s exactly the funny combination you’ll find at Daen’s Greenhouse. Three stylishly furnished rooms in a historic building right in the city center and a flower store, clothes store and in-house café downstairs where you can get your breakfast in the morning.
We think this is a great combination and makes Daen’s perhaps the hippest hotel in Utrecht.
Mother Goose Hotel

The Mother Goose Hotel has 23 rooms spread over 4 floors. Each floor has its own color – white, grey, brown and black and on each floor there are rooms of different sizes: small, medium, large and suites.
It is a pretty cool boutique hotel in the center of Utrecht: The rooms are furnished with great attention to detail and from the top floor you have a really great view over the old town of Utrecht.
If you particularly like a certain hotel room, you can let the hotel know when booking and they will try to give you your favorite room if it’s possible.
The boutique hotel doesn’t have a breakfast room, so breakfast is brought to your room – a very pragmatic solution.
The Nox Hotel

The stylish Nox Hotel in the center of Utrecht advertises with the slogan “Experience the magic of the night”.
As soon as you enter the boutique hotel, you’ll understand why. The interior is a cozy dark blue and the moon is a design element in every room.
It certainly looks like a particularly good place to sleep.
Eye Hotel

The Eye Hotel is a small design hotel on the edge of the city center – a perfect base for sightseeing in Utrecht.
We stayed there on our last visit to Utrecht and can wholeheartedly recommend it. The rooms are stylishly furnished and there is a good breakfast.
If you are traveling with children, the Eye Hotel is a good choice as there are two family rooms.
Canal Apartments in Utrecht

If you are looking for truly exceptional accommodation in Utrecht, you should book an overnight stay in a canal apartment.
Do you know what a canal in the Netherlands is? If not, here’s a brief explanation: canals are water ditches that run through many cities, like Utrecht.
You can’t live closer to a canal than this because these accommodations are not located in the houses above the canal, but in the vaults directly on the canal.
Sounds strange, but it is a special feature of Utrecht. That’s why the rooms all have the characteristic vaulted ceiling.
Of course, there is no room for an entire boutique hotel in the canals, so only individual apartments are rented out. We have picked out our three favorites for you.
Our 3 favorite canal accommodations in Utrecht:
LOFT 188: Pure luxury. A huge canal apartment that makes the hearts of design lovers dance. Not cheap, but perhaps the most extraordinary accommodation in the whole of Utrecht.
UKI-Hotel: Stylishly furnished canal apartment with a cozy bed and a great view of the canal.
De Hoendervorst: A slightly cheaper canal apartment, but it also offers everything you need for a great stay.
Extra Tip: Book a Boutique Hotel in Utrecht and Travel to Amsterdam
Are you planning to combine your visit to Utrecht with a city trip to Amsterdam?
Then it is often cheaper to stay the whole time in Utrecht. A boutique hotel in Amsterdam is considerably more expensive than in Utrecht and you can be in the center of Amsterdam in 30 minutes by train. It’s worth it!
