What You Should Know About eSIMs for Turkey

An eSIM makes your trip to Turkey so much easier. Simply pick the right plan before your vacation, buy, install, and activate the card before your flight, and you’ll be online the moment you land.
Once you’re there, you don’t have to worry about a thing.
Turkey eSIMs are available with a set amount of GB or with unlimited data in Turkey for a specific number of days.
Which eSIM you need for Turkey depends mostly on the trip you’re planning.
Are eSIMs allowed in Turkey?
eSIMs are not illegal in Turkey.
However, since July 2025, the websites and apps of many major international eSIM providers have been blocked in Turkey. This includes Saily, Holafly, Nomad, and Airalo. You can no longer access these providers while in the country or purchase an eSIM from them there.
But don’t worry: if you enter Turkey with an already activated eSIM, you’ll avoid the problem entirely. That way, you won’t need to access the providers’ apps while you’re there, and your eSIM will stay active.
To do this, you’ll need to activate it manually in your settings before you leave. Go to your phone’s settings, tap on Mobile Data, and then tap on the installed Turkey eSIM. Turn on Activate This Line and Data Roaming. It’s best to do this at the airport before you switch to airplane mode.

Our Recommendation: Saily as a Turkey eSIM
For us, the eSIM from Saily is the best eSIM for Turkey.
Saily offers great value for money, lets you choose between a set amount of GB or unlimited data, and the eSIM is super easy to install via the app (iOS | Android).
You can purchase the eSIM up to 30 days before your arrival and use your device as a hotspot for other devices during your trip.
If you use the internet the way most people do — think Google Maps and occasional social media — 10 GB per person for two weeks should be plenty. If you’re not sure, it’s better to book more data. Topping up while you’re there could be tricky due to the blocking.
