FAQ
Is San Francisco expensive?
Yes — seriously expensive. San Francisco is one of the most expensive cities in the US, and it holds its own against the priciest cities in the world.
Don’t expect a decent mid-range hotel for under $150, and attraction tickets and eating out add up fast too.
How long do you need for San Francisco?
Plan for at least two days — that’s enough to hit the main highlights and explore a few neighborhoods properly.
That said, if you’re not just passing through on a West Coast road trip, there are so many great day trips nearby that you could easily fill two full weeks.
Is San Francisco big?
What's the best time of year to visit San Francisco?
We’d go in spring or fall — April through May or September through October. Temperatures are just right for being outside all day, and it’s also the sweet spot for visiting the surrounding national parks.
