Our #7 is fittingly the Siete Islas Hotel. It’s one of the last family-run boutique hotels in Madrid and has two truly special features.
First, there’s an in-house art gallery. Works by local artists are displayed in the lobby, so you can admire great art completely free of charge. The exhibitions rotate every three months.
Second, the cocktails at the Siete Islas are really outstanding — due in no small part to the fact that house-made spirits are used. The hotel also has its own craft beer.

The Hostal Central Palace offers — just as the name suggests — an exceptionally well-located place to stay. You’re right in the heart of the city in the Centro neighborhood, and all of Madrid’s top attractions are just a stone’s throw away.

This Madrid boutique hotel is best known for its restaurant and Café Varela, which was one of the most popular cafés in all of Madrid during the 19th and 20th centuries. Posada del León de Oro
The Posada del León de Oro is housed in a traditional 19th-century building. The rooms are arranged around an interior courtyard with wooden balconies, and massive wooden beams hang from the ceilings.
The hotel restaurant serves the traditional Cocido Madrileño. While it’s a classic Madrid dish, very few restaurants can still prepare it according to its original recipe. At the Posada, the stew is cooked for a full seven hours following grandma’s recipe. Absolutely worth ordering.
