The Cliff Bay
The Cliff Bay is an elegant 5-star hotel just outside Funchal by the sea. The outdoor area with several pools and whirlpools is fantastic – just like the sea, to which you have private access from the hotel.
The breakfast buffet and restaurants also leave nothing to be desired. Everything tastes delicious.
The rooms are cozy and elegantly furnished and the beds are super comfortable. The large balconies are really great – especially if you book a room with a sea and city view.

Reid's Palace
Reid’s Palace is one of the most prestigious hotels in Madeira. It is situated on a cliff near Funchal and the panorama from the huge hotel complex is fantastic.
Outside there is a large outdoor pool, beautiful gardens, private access to the sea and tennis courts.
The inside of the hotel is at least as impressive. From a great wellness area to a gym, you can enjoy yourself all day long at Reid’s.
In the evening, you’ll be spoiled for choice between 4 delicious restaurants. The William Restaurant has even been awarded a Michelin star.
The rooms at Reid’s are all superbly equipped and decorated in bright tones. The free drinks in the minibar are a cool extra.

Saccharum - Resort and Spa
The Saccharum is one of our top tips for a hotel on the beach in Madeira. It is located on Calheta beach – one of the few sandy beaches in Madeira.
We particularly like the design of the rooms: simple, elegant and with a few unusual designs by a Madeiran artist.
Another highlight at the Saccharum Hotel is the roof terrace with infinity pool. There is also a great breakfast buffet in the morning and in the evening you can choose between a buffet and an à la carte restaurant.

Barceló Funchal Oldtown
As the name suggests, the Barceló is located in the heart of Funchal’s old town. It is a luxurious boutique hotel in Madeira that is really stylishly furnished.
The rooms and bathrooms are beautifully designed and the beds are really comfortable. You are guaranteed to feel at home here!
But it’s not just the rooms that are great – the roof terrace with pool and view of Funchal and the varied breakfast are also fantastic.
Incidentally, the Barceló Funchal Oldtown is a rather inexpensive and small luxury hotel in Madeira – if you don’t want to dig too deep into your pockets, you’ve come to the right place.

Albatroz Beach & Yacht Club
The Albatroz Beach & Yacht Club is located very close to the airport in Santa Cruz. There is hardly any aircraft noise, but it is all the cooler to see the planes take off and land.
Our personal highlight is the pool right by the sea – the views are fantastic. You can also jump straight into the sea from the pool area.
You also have a great view of the Atlantic from the rooms and the beautiful gardens. To give you a good start to the day, there is a delicious breakfast in the morning and you can dine in the hotel restaurant in the evening.
If you want to play golf in Madeira, the Albatroz is also the perfect place for you, as there is a golf course nearby.

Quinta Jardins do Lago
Quinta Jardins do Lago is not a classic hotel, but rather a large finca with its own botanical garden and a great pool area.
The luxury hotel is located on a mountain above Funchal. There is a shuttle bus to get into the city. You can also park for free at the Quinta.
The service at this hotel is fantastic – always friendly and extremely helpful. There is a delicious breakfast in the morning and after sightseeing in Madeira you can relax in the hot tub.
