Sé Boutique Hotel

The Sé Boutique Hotel is located right in the heart of Funchal and is a truly stylish city hotel. From here, you can easily explore the sights of Funchal on foot, and it also makes a perfect base for excursions around Madeira.
In the morning, you’ll enjoy a delicious breakfast, and the rooftop terrace is a lovely spot to relax. For some extra peace and quiet, you can even reserve the indoor pool for yourself.
The rooms are decorated in bright, elegant colors, and the hotel features plenty of unusual furniture and details that add to its charm.
The price-performance ratio at the Sé Boutique Hotel is excellent — and with a bit of luck, you might even find an inexpensive room at the last minute!

Escarpa - The Madeira Hideaway

The Escarpa is a beautiful, small boutique hotel near Ponta do Sol – one of the most beautiful towns in Madeira. It is located in the peaceful countryside on a cliff right by the sea. You really can’t beat the views here!
The adults-only hotel got a hot tub and its own restaurant – pretty much everything you need. A delicious breakfast is included. However, the absolute highlight is the infinity pool with sea views.
The rooms have a cozy, light look with warm colors and cute details. There are even entire villas with their own pool.
We definitely recommend renting a car for this hotel – it just makes getting around a lot easier, and you can park for free at the Escarpa.

Quinta Vale Vitis

Quinta Vale Vitis is a beautiful little hotel in the quiet north of Madeira – in the village of São Vicente to be precise.
We particularly like the large outdoor area with garden, terrace and outdoor pool. The rooms are furnished in bright colors in a natural style and are very comfortable.
Breakfast and sauna access are both included, which is a nice bonus – and the Quinta Vale Vitis is a rather inexpensive boutique hotel in Madeira.
There’s a shared kitchen and even a car rental service – super handy if you’re planning a road trip in Madeira.

Castanheiro Boutique Hotel

The Castanheiro is a great overall package for your trip in Madeira. From the large rooms, where you have plenty of space, to the roof terrace with pool, everything works really well together.
The service at the Castanheiro is also great – super helpful staff, always friendly and extremely welcoming. You’ll really feel at home here.
In the morning there is a great breakfast buffet with lots of choice and dinner in the restaurant is really delicious. They’ll occasionally put on themed dinner nights, which are a fun touch.
The spa’s a big win too – there’s a sauna, Turkish bath, and even massages – ideal after hiking in Madeira! And if you haven’t worked out enough beforehand, you can do so in the small fitness studio.

Three House Hotel

The Three House is the perfect boutique hotel in Madeira if you’re planning to do lots of exploring around the island. The location in the center of Funchal is ideal and there is free parking.
As it is an apart hotel, you can cater for yourself in the apartments, but there is also a restaurant. In the morning, fresh croissants are placed in front of your room door and coffee and tea are freely available.
When you return to the hotel in the evening, you can chill on the rooftop by the pool with a cocktail in hand.

Extra tip: Vi Naturae Glamping

Vi Naturae Glamping is not a classic boutique hotel – but it’s such a cool and different place, we had to include it.
You spend the night in tents that are furnished like real hotel rooms. You even get your own little kitchen and a terrace to hang out on.
The tents are located on a cliff above the village of Paul do Mar and the views are amazing. Whether from your room or the infinity pool – you have a fantastic sea view.
To top it all off, the hosts are super friendly and welcoming, and in the morning, there’s a really good breakfast waiting for you.
