You can visit Madeira all year round thanks to its mild climate.
In our opinion, the best time to visit Madeira is in April, May, and September through October. The weather is warm with little rain, and it’s not too hot – ideal for hiking and exploring Madeira.
The main season runs from June to August, offering fantastic weather. But it’s also the busiest and most expensive time of the year.
If you come to Madeira in winter, from November to March, temperatures are a bit cooler but still mild. There’s more rain during this period, but you’ll still get plenty of sunshine. That’s why it’s one of our favorite spots for a winter escape.

We think spring and autumn are the best times for hiking – especially April, May, June, September, and October.
In the spring, the flowers are in bloom and the scenery is stunning. In the fall, the sea is warmer — perfect for a beach break after a long hike.
That said, you can go hiking in Madeira all year round. Just steer clear of very windy or rainy days for safety.
When is the Flowering Season in Madeira?

April to June is peak flower season in Madeira.
Known for its variety of flowers, Madeira is often called the flower island, and spring is when it really shines.
Each year in April or May, the Flower Festival takes over Funchal, the capital. It lasts two weeks with parades, decorations, and events all over the city.
The Best Time to Go Whale Watching

You can technically see whales around Madeira all year.
But the best time of year to visit Madeira for whale watching is September to November.
