The hotel complex includes several bars, a restaurant and even a roof terrace with an infinity pool.

The Enotel Sunset Bay is located in the small village of Ponta do Sol – for us it is one of the most beautiful places in Madeira. Right in front of the hotel you will find a stone beach with a calm bay that is great for swimming.
The hotel also has everything else you need: a delicious breakfast buffet, cozy rooms with sea views, an indoor pool and a sauna.
As Ponta do Sol is somewhat remote, a rental car is highly recommended if you are staying at the Enotel Sunset Bay. You can park your car for free in the underground parking garage.

The Calheta Beach is an all-inclusive beach hotel and perfect for a vacation with children. The large pool area is great for the kids and there’s room for everyone in the family rooms.
In addition to round-the-clock food and drink in the various bars and restaurants, Calheta Beach also has a gym and a sauna. You can choose between sea and mountain views in the rooms.
The location right on the sandy beach is fantastic and the all-inclusive hotel is a great starting point for excursions in Madeira. Private parking is available at the hotel for a small surcharge.

Sentido Galomar - Adults Only

The Sentido Galomar is a cozy and rather small hotel on the beach in Madeira. It is for adults only and great for relaxing, as the location is totally quiet.
Part of the hotel sits on a cliff, while another section is closer to the sea. They are connected by an elevator – we love the concept!
Downstairs you’ll find an outdoor pool with sunbathing areas and access to the sea – admittedly, it’s not a real beach, but the outdoor area is definitely cozier than the stony beaches.
Sea-view rooms and the terrace with a whirlpool are definite highlights – it really doesn’t get much better.

Beautiful Apartments Near the Beach in Madeira
Our favorite beach in Madeira is Praia do Seixal – a natural black sand beach. There are no large hotels in Seixal, but there are plenty of apartments just a short walk from the beach.

You will find a paved sandy beach similar to Calheta in Machico. From Machico, you can also quickly reach the black sand beach of Prainha.

For us, the beach with the coolest panorama is Praia do Garajau. There are no houses directly on the beach, but you will find plenty of nice accommodation up in the village of Garajau.

Hotels by the Natural Pools in Madeira
There are a number of natural pools in Madeira. They are ideal for swimming and bathing and also look really cool.
The most famous lava pools can be found in Porto Moniz. There are also a few nice hotels there.
Aqua Bay Hotel in Porto Moniz: A beautiful hotel right by the sea and the natural pools. The rooms with sea view and the terrace with whirlpool are particularly great – it doesn’t get any better than this.

Our Tips for Beach Hotels in Porto Santo
Porto Santo is the neighboring island of Madeira and there is a 9 kilometer long sandy beach. In 2022, it was even named the most beautiful beach in Europe by European Best Destinations magazine.
So if you want to spend a few days on the beach, it’s best to travel to Porto Santo. We recommend taking the ferry there from Funchal and adding 2-3 beach days to a Madeira round trip.

As there are fewer tourists in Porto Santo, you only have a small selection of hotels on the beach – but these are a lot cheaper than in Madeira.
