Our City Check for Las Vegas

  1. Flair

Non-stop lights, shows, and spectacle — Las Vegas is one big adult playground unlike anywhere else on earth.

  2. Travel Season

Spring (March–May) and fall (September–November) are the sweet spots — warm and sunny without the brutal summer heat that regularly tops 105°F.

  3. Travel Duration

Two to three days is honestly plenty — enough time to do the Strip properly and catch Fremont Street without burning out.

  4. Price Level

Wildly varied. You can eat well for next to nothing at a buffet, or drop serious cash at a celebrity chef restaurant. Budget or splurge — both work here.

  5. Food

The food scene is seriously impressive: cheap eats, massive buffets, and a handful of Michelin-starred restaurants all within a few blocks of each other.

  6. Transport

The Strip is totally walkable (though longer than it looks). For everything off the Strip, Uber and Lyft are cheap and reliable.

FAQ

How many days do you need in Las Vegas?

Plan for at least two to three full days — that’s enough to hit the most important highlights, try your luck at a casino, and catch a show.

But honestly, you could easily stay longer. Las Vegas has an almost unlimited range of things to do, and there are seriously great day trips to national parks like the Grand Canyon or Zion just a few hours away. More time here is never wasted.

Is Las Vegas expensive?

Las Vegas is way more affordable than most people expect. Even at famous Strip hotels, you can sometimes find a room for under $100 a night — that’s significantly cheaper than Los Angeles or San Francisco.

Of course, there’s no real upper limit either. The most expensive suite in the city runs $100,000 per night.

Bottom line: Las Vegas is as expensive as you make it. You can do it on a budget or blow the bank — the choice is genuinely yours.

Is Las Vegas safe?

Mostly yes — but it depends where you are. Las Vegas had a rough reputation for a long time, and it’s still a mixed picture today.

Surprisingly, the Strip is actually the safest area in the city, day and night. There are cameras everywhere, and casino security is seriously on the ball. You’ll still encounter the odd pickpocket or rowdy drunk — same as any busy tourist district — but nothing out of the ordinary.

Away from the Strip, though, be more cautious. After dark, it’s best to avoid Downtown and especially Fremont Street.
