FAQ
When is peak season on Juist?
Peak season on Juist runs from May/June through September. After that, there’s a short shoulder season through the end of October — quieter, but still worth it if you don’t mind cooler weather.
Where is the most beautiful spot on Juist?
Honestly, Juist is beautiful everywhere — it’s one of the most beautiful islands in Europe for a reason. But our absolute favorite is the western end of the island.
The Loog and the Bill are seriously stunning. If you only have time for one walk, head west.
Can you walk to Juist at low tide?
No. Hiking out to Juist across the mudflats is not allowed — both for nature conservation reasons and because the tidal flats in that area are genuinely unpredictable and dangerous.
That said, you can book guided mudflat walks along the coast while you’re on the island. Totally worth it.
How long does it take to walk around Juist?
You can actually circumnavigate the whole island on foot. The loop takes three to four hours depending on your pace — and it’s really one of the best ways to experience Juist.
Along the way you’ll pass the dikes, the Hammersee, and the Bill. So many great spots in one walk.
