- There are 3 neighborhoods near Frankfurt Airport where you can stay comfortably — each with different trade-offs on price, proximity, and parking.
- Our favorite area is Gateway Gardens near Terminal 2. Top pick: the b’mine Hotel Frankfurt Airport — we’ve stayed there ourselves and loved it.

Where to Stay Near Frankfurt Airport?
Over the years, we’ve often asked ourselves: Where should we stay near Frankfurt Airport? Usually because our flight was leaving super early in the morning.
And since we’ve always had different needs — with kids or without, with parking or without, with a free shuttle or within walking distance — we’ve tried out quite a few hotels at Frankfurt Airport. So we can share some personal tips to help you find the right place to stay.
First of all, you can divide the hotels into 3 neighborhoods:
- Right at the airport: 3–7 minutes on foot
- Gateway Gardens: 25–30 minutes on foot Our pick!
- Kelsterbach: accessible by public bus and hotel shuttles to the airport
We’ll walk you through each neighborhood in more detail below — and share what we think are the best hotels in each one.
The Best Neighborhoods to Stay Near Frankfurt Airport on a Map
To give you a quick overview of where each neighborhood sits, we’ve marked them on a map. Frankfurt Airport is the area at the bottom.

Staying Right at Frankfurt Airport: It Doesn't Get Any Closer
There are four hotels that are truly right at the gates of Terminal 1. For two of them, you only have to cross one street and you’re there.
That said, these hotels are of course more expensive than other options near Frankfurt Airport.
All of them have parking where you can leave your car while you travel — but even that costs more than in our other two neighborhoods.
So staying right at the airport really only makes sense if you want to be as close as humanly possible and don’t want to think about transfers at all.
Advantages of a hotel right at Frankfurt Airport
- Right across from Frankfurt Airport
- No transfer needed
Disadvantages of a hotel right at Frankfurt Airport
- Hotels right at Frankfurt Airport are more expensive than in the other two neighborhoods
- You’ll hear more aircraft noise
- Fewer hotels to choose from
Here are our recommendations for hotels right at Frankfurt Airport:
Hilton Frankfurt Airport

There are two Hiltons at Frankfurt Airport, both located directly at Terminal 1. We’ve stayed at both and can tell you: we liked the Hilton Frankfurt Airport a little better.
Don’t expect anything extraordinary, though. At the end of the day, it’s still an airport hotel — comfortable and convenient, but not a destination in itself.
The obvious advantage is its proximity to the airport. You literally lose zero time getting to the terminal. Plus, you can park your car at the Hilton hotels while you travel.
Book the Hilton Frankfurt Airport
Hilton Garden Inn Frankfurt Airport

We’ve also stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn Frankfurt Airport. It’s in the same building as the first Hilton, so you’re just as close to the gates.
The Hilton Garden Inn is perfectly fine. The advantage is that it’s often a bit cheaper than the other Hilton. But if both are priced the same, we’d go with the original Hilton over the Garden Inn.
Book the Hilton Garden Inn Frankfurt Airport
Marriott Frankfurt Airport

The Marriott Frankfurt Airport is actually even closer to the airport than both Hilton hotels — you only have to cross a single street.
That proximity comes at a price, though. You’ll pay more for the Marriott than anywhere else on this list.
Breakfast is served from 6:30 AM at the Sheraton right next door — which we’ll cover in the next section.
Book the Marriott Frankfurt Airport
Sheraton Frankfurt Airport Hotel

The Sheraton Frankfurt Airport Hotel is right next to the Marriott — like the Hilton hotels, both properties are part of the same group.
What sets the Sheraton apart is its huge variety of room sizes. From simple single rooms to full apartments with two bedrooms and a kitchenette — they have it all. That makes it a great pick for a trip with kids, especially if little ones aren’t big fans of walking.

Gateway Gardens: Excellent Value for Money
When we stay at a Frankfurt airport hotel, Gateway Gardens is our go-to neighborhood.
The area sits right next to Terminal 2. If that’s your terminal, you’re only about a 15-minute walk from your gate.
There’s also an S-Bahn connecting Gateway Gardens to the airport, and many hotels offer a shuttle. But if you’re not carrying too much luggage, walking honestly makes a lot of sense — you’d have to walk from the station to your gate anyway, and this way you’re not tied to a schedule.
Honestly, it doesn’t matter much which hotel in Gateway Gardens you pick — they’re all well located. We’d simply go with whichever offers the best value for money at the time of your trip. That said, we do have our favorites, which we’ll share right now.
Advantages of staying in Gateway Gardens
- You can walk to the airport
- There’s an S-Bahn and some hotels offer shuttles
- The best value for money of all three neighborhoods
- Several restaurants nearby
Disadvantages of staying in Gateway Gardens
- Fewer hotels to choose from than in Kelsterbach
- You’ll still hear some aircraft noise
Here are our hotel picks for Gateway Gardens:
b’mine Hotel Frankfurt Airport
The b’mine Hotel is our absolute favorite among Frankfurt Airport hotels. Of all the places to stay in Gateway Gardens, it has the shortest walk to the airport — just 15 minutes on foot to Terminal 2, or five minutes by taxi. There’s no shuttle, but you really don’t need one.
We love the room concept here. The rooms are well-equipped, the beds are super comfortable, and you can even book rooms where you get to watch the action on the runway — those come with a small surcharge.
You can also add a parking spot to your booking. It goes so far that with some rooms, a car elevator lets you drive your car up to your balcony and park it there. We’re not entirely sure why you’d do that when there’s also a parking garage, but it’s pretty cool nonetheless.
One thing to note: the hotel does not offer a Park, Sleep & Fly package.

Staycity Aparthotel

We’ve now stayed at the Staycity Aparthotel multiple times, and it just barely trails the b’mine Hotel for us. The value for money here is seriously outstanding.
The hotel is relatively new and modern, with several room types to choose from. For us, the room with a living area and sofa bed is perfect when we have our kids along.
It’s about a 15-minute walk to Terminal 2, and the hotel also runs a shuttle to the airport — just book it at the front desk. The shuttle costs 6 euros per person, though.
Right next door is the italian, an Italian restaurant where you can enjoy a solid meal before your trip.
The one downside: parking can be limited if you want to leave your car there during your travels. Check with the hotel in advance to make sure it’s available.
Hyatt Place

We’ve also stayed at the Hyatt Place and liked it — the Staycity Aparthotel just edges it out for us. That said, if the Hyatt Place is significantly cheaper at the time of your trip, we’d go with it without hesitation.
The one downside is that there’s no shuttle to the airport. If you don’t want to walk, you’ll need the S-Bahn (just one stop) or a taxi (about five minutes).
On the plus side, there’s a parking garage with a Park, Sleep & Fly option where you can leave your car while you’re away.
Best Western Airport Frankfurt

A solid choice with a Park, Sleep & Fly option in Gateway Gardens is the Best Western Airport Frankfurt.
Of all the Gateway Gardens hotels we recommend, the Best Western has the longest walk to the airport. That said, the S-Bahn station is right around the corner, and you can still walk if you prefer — just budget a few extra minutes. There is no hotel shuttle.

Kelsterbach: Affordable Frankfurt Airport Hotels
Kelsterbach is the largest neighborhood near Frankfurt Airport.
It’s not far from the airport, but you can’t walk there from here. You’ll cover the distance by public bus or hotel shuttle — the two hotels we recommend both offer one.
Kelsterbach is especially worth considering if you’re looking for affordable room rates and parking during your trip.
It’s also a bit quieter here, since you’re farther from the runways.
Advantages of staying in Kelsterbach
- Affordable hotels
- Quieter location
- Good and affordable parking options nearby
Disadvantages of staying in Kelsterbach
- You’ll need a transfer to the airport
- Few restaurants in the area
We recommend two hotels in Kelsterbach:
Platzhirsch Living

The Platzhirsch Living is a great Frankfurt airport hotel with a cool room design.
The real standout here is the large parking garage right next door. You can park there affordably even for longer stays — and you book your spot independently from your hotel reservation on the official parking garage website.
The Platzhirsch Living is also one of the few hotels near Frankfurt Airport that offers a free shuttle to the airport. It departs from the parking garage every half hour.
Vienna House Easy

The Vienna House Easy is the most affordable option on our list of the best Frankfurt Airport hotels.
The rooms are simply furnished, but you have everything you need for the night before your flight. The hotel offers a shuttle for 8 euros per person and parking for up to 15 days.
