25hours Hotel Altes Hafenamt

The décor at the 25hours Hotel in Hamburg is absolutely one of a kind. That’s what the 25hours chain is known for.
You’ll find lush hanging flower baskets, stylish light fixtures, chic chalkboards, and staircases that call to mind extendable ship gangways.

Sir Nikolai Hotel

The Sir Nikolai Hotel in Hamburg offers a supremely stylish interior with marble washstands, velvet-upholstered armchairs, and hand-knotted Persian rugs.
The hotel is located right in Hamburg’s historic district. HafenCity is just 500 meters away, and it’s about a five-minute walk to the Speicherstadt and the Mönckebergstraße subway station.
Some rooms at the Sir Nikolai Hotel feature their own relaxation areas that offer extra space and comfort.
The front desk is staffed around the clock, and the team is happy to fill you in on the city and its top highlights.
Das kleine Grindel

Das kleine Grindel certainly lives up to its name: with only two rooms, it’s probably one of the most intimate places to stay in Hamburg. Both rooms have a small terrace, and there’s a garden and courtyard where you can truly unwind.
The hotel sits a little north of Hamburg’s city center and is a real local favorite! We especially recommend it if you don’t feel like dealing with tourist crowds and loud bars at night. Still, you’re well connected — you can reach the Jungfernstieg by public transit in just ten minutes, or on foot in 20.
The building was once an old workshop that was lovingly renovated. We love the rustic style. One more thing: all materials used are allergy-friendly.
The hotel’s Café Leonar serves not only breakfast but also lunch and dinner. And in the afternoon, you absolutely have to try a slice of cake. Yum!
Tortue Hotel

The Tortue is one of the most beautiful design hotels in Hamburg: stylish, but never overdone. The rooms offer plenty of space, and we especially love the French balcony. The view over Hamburg’s city center is simply stunning!
The location is perfect if you want to browse boutiques and try out lots of restaurants. The Jungfernstieg, a popular promenade along the Binnenalster, is just a five-minute walk away — which also makes it super convenient if you want to head out in the evening.
But there’s also seriously great food right at the Tortue itself: the hotel has three restaurants and four bars — a true foodie paradise. Honestly, you might not even want to leave.
Superbude Hotel Hostel St. Pauli

The Superbude is probably the trendiest boutique hotel in Hamburg — you’ll hardly find rooms this individual anywhere else! You’ll stay in colorful design rooms with upcycled furniture and can read original quotes from well-known bloggers, journalists, and authors right off the walls.
This place is especially well-suited for young travelers: the location in the hip Schanzenviertel neighborhood of St. Pauli is ideal for a night out. Right near the Reeperbahn, you’ll find record stores, fashion boutiques, nightclubs, bars, restaurants, and musical theaters.
The hotel’s breakfast buffet is exceptionally generous and even free for children under nine. In the hip lobby lounge with its 50-meter-long bar, you can get drinks around the clock and unwind after an exciting day in the city.

The Suites Rainvilleterrasse

The Suites Hotel is a perfect mix of everything: somehow a vacation apartment, yet also a 4-star hotel; a quiet location, but close to the city center; great for families, city travelers, and business guests alike.
You’ll be staying in Altona and can reach downtown Hamburg by public transit in 20 minutes. That trip is totally worth it — for one thing, the hotel offers what is probably the best panorama in the entire city, looking out over the harbor and the Elbe. You can take in the vista from the large rooftop terrace or directly from your suite.
For another, you’re only about ten minutes from the nearest beach. For us, that’s an absolute highlight on those balmy Hamburg summer evenings!
The six suites are very spacious and there’s an extra apartment for families. Self check-in is available, which we find really convenient. Friendly staff is also on hand at any time, and breakfast is served at the hotel as well.
Central Hotel Bel Étage

This charming hotel is housed in a 200-year-old, landmark-protected building, making it ideal if you have even a passing interest in Hamburg’s architecture or history. Although the St. Georg neighborhood has a reputation for being quite lively, you’ll find the Central Hotel Bel Étage to be very quiet.
The building is 100 meters from the Alster, 150 meters from the main train station, and 500 meters from Mönckebergstraße.
In the evenings, you can check out one of the many trendy bars on Lange Reihe, or enjoy a delicious dinner at the hotel’s restaurant Central.
For vitamin lovers, the Central Hotel Bel Étage has a cool extra: every room comes with its own juicer and is stocked with fresh oranges upon your arrival.
Moxy Hamburg City

The Moxy is super creatively designed, with something to see in every corner. You’ll stay in a colorful, cheerful environment filled with comic-book heroes, surf accessories, and skateboarding gear.
It’s not quite a traditional family hotel, but the wild rooms are a big hit with kids!
The hotel sits a bit outside of Hamburg’s city center, but right next to the Berliner Tor S-Bahn and U-Bahn station — an ideal combination of a peaceful setting and great transit connections. If you don’t mind a short walk, you can also reach the Alster, many sights, or Hamburg museums like the Deichtorhallen on foot.
The breakfast buffet includes freshly squeezed orange juice, and a fitness center is also available for those who want to stay active.
Pierdrei Hotel HafenCity

The Pierdrei Hotel in Hamburg is one of the coolest design hotels on this list. Fitting for Germany’s harbor city, everything here revolves around ships. Life rings and old wooden paddles hang on the walls, and the family rooms look like ship berths.
Of course, the hotel is also located right on the water in HafenCity, next to the Speicherstadt. Many of Hamburg’s top attractions — like the Elbphilharmonie, Miniatur Wunderland, and the museum ship Cap San Diego — are just a few minutes’ walk away.
For exploring the city, you can rent bikes of all kinds (city bike, e-bike, etc.) at the front desk. If you’re traveling to Hamburg with kids, the little ones can run wild in the 200-square-meter Racker Room.
In addition to a restaurant and a lounge, there’s also the rooftop bar Moon46. The perfect spot to wrap up the evening with Hamburg’s lights spread out before you.
Chez Ronny

At this small design hotel, you’ll experience genuine Hamburg hospitality. Your host Ronny is already well known among his regulars for his warm and welcoming personality.
The cozy accommodation is located near the Reeperbahn and is about a five-minute walk from Hamburg Harbor and the St. Pauli Landungsbrücken piers. Many popular Hamburg harbor tours depart from there. Miniatur Wunderland is also just a short trip away.
Chez Ronny has its own bar and a cozy communal lounge where fresh fruit, coffee, and tea are available free of charge. If you’re arriving by car, Chez Ronny also offers private parking.
