Surf Lesson on Fuerteventura
What to expect: For beginners, the conditions for surfing on Fuerteventura are genuinely ideal. Your lesson includes all the gear — wetsuit and surfboard. You’ll kick things off with a quick theory session on the beach covering the basics, then it’s straight into the water. Your instructor stays right by your side the whole time, keeping an eye on you and offering tips as you go.

Activity location: We know the Boards Connections surf school in Corralejo personally and are happy to recommend it. Group lessons are capped at six people, so you get plenty of attention from your instructor.

Surf Skating
What to expect: Surf skating is the perfect complement to surfing — and honestly one of the coolest things to do on Fuerteventura. We’ve already tried it out with the entire 22places team. Think of it like a skateboard, except the deck is designed so you can mimic the fluid movements of surfing. We made seriously impressive progress in just a 1.5-hour session!

Boat Tour
What to expect: A boat tour is one of our absolute favorite Fuerteventura activities. One of our best trips was a catamaran tour to the island of Lobos, where you get time to swim and snorkel and enjoy a delicious paella on board. A dolphin and whale watching tour is also incredibly popular — and in the south, we once got really lucky and spotted a huge pod of dolphins.

Buggy Tour on Fuerteventura
What to expect: The buggy tour is probably the most adrenaline-packed of all the things to do on Fuerteventura. We did it in Corralejo and absolutely loved it! After a quick briefing, you take the wheel yourself. In a convoy, you drive along dusty gravel roads and stop at a massive volcano and the El Jable dune area — one of the most spectacular sights on Fuerteventura.
Activity location: Corralejo
Our tip: Don’t wear your best clothes — by the end of the tour, you’ll be covered in dust from head to toe.

Jeep Safari to Cofete
What to expect: In the south of Fuerteventura lies the Jandía Natural Park. Your first stop on the jeep safari is Cofete, one of the most beautiful beaches on Fuerteventura. The scenery is breathtaking: a seemingly endless stretch of sandy beach, steep mountain slopes rising behind it, and the legendary Villa Winter in the distance. Next, you head to the lighthouse at the island’s southernmost tip and the small village of El Puertito for a midday snack. To wrap things up, you can take a dip at Playa de las Mujeres.
Activity location: Hotel pickup and drop-off in the south of Fuerteventura
Good to know: You could technically do this trip on your own, but the only route through the park is an unpaved gravel track — and your rental car insurance won’t cover you on it. If you’d rather not take that risk, the jeep tour is the smart choice.
Tapas Tour
What to expect: Good food is an essential part of every trip for us — and the tapas tour is one of our favorite culinary experiences on Fuerteventura. You travel from finca to finca, sampling all kinds of local specialties. The tour includes three tastings, and at each stop a local family walks you through the production process. Expect to try: cactus fig jam and mojo sauce with Canarian potatoes, homemade olive oil, and traditional goat cheese.

The Best Museums on Fuerteventura
Admittedly, it rarely rains on Fuerteventura. But if it does, a museum visit is a great way to spend the time — and these two are genuinely worth your while even on a sunny day.
Salt Museum
What to expect: The Salt Museum is packed with fascinating stories about salt: how it’s harvested, the role it played in the island’s history, how it was traded, and the cultural and economic influence it still holds today. This is also the home of the island’s only still-operating salt production facility. You can walk around the salt pans and watch firsthand as seawater evaporates and salt crystals form.
Activity location: Las Salinas / Antigua, near Caleta de Fuste
Our tip: You can pick up the locally produced salt directly in the museum shop — a great souvenir.

Cheese Museum and Queseria
What to expect: Queso Majorero is a goat cheese made from the milk of the native Majorera goat. It’s a core part of Fuerteventura’s cultural identity — livestock farming and cheesemaking still shape the landscape today. At the Cheese Museum, you’ll learn all about the cheese itself and the history of cheesemaking on the island, from the indigenous inhabitants right up to the present day.

Our tip: For the ultimate cheese experience, consider visiting a dairy farm as well. We stumbled upon the Quesería Caprarius (open in Google Maps) in Las Palmas by chance — it serves the most delicious goat cheese we’ve ever had!

Here are three great options that keep both the little ones and the adults happy!
Oasis Wildlife Park
What to expect: The Oasis Wildlife Park is one of the most popular family destinations on Fuerteventura. It features a large nature and adventure park with more than 3,000 animals from around 250 species, an impressive botanical garden, and plenty of activities including a petting zoo and live shows.

Our tip: If you want a short trip with your kids to Oasis Park, we’d suggest booking a family hotel in the south of Fuerteventura to keep travel time to a minimum.

Note: We have general reservations about zoos and animal shows. It’s worth thinking ahead of time about whether you want to support these kinds of attractions.
Water Park
What to expect: The Acua Water Park in Corralejo is the island’s only water amusement park — and a seriously fun day out for the whole family. It has awesome slides, a wave pool, a lazy river and a fast river, a dedicated toddler area, and a wellness zone with whirlpools, a solarium, and sun loungers for the grown-ups.

Our tip: The north of Fuerteventura — Corralejo in particular — is our favorite part of the island. It’s really worth spending a few days here and exploring the area properly.

Hike with Goats
What to expect: If there’s one animal we associate with Fuerteventura, it’s goats — no question about it! On this hike, you actually get to lead goats on a leash yourself. You’ll also get to explore the island’s interior, which most visitors skip entirely. Along the way, there’s a lunch of Spanish tapas — complete with homemade goat cheese, naturally.

The Best Day Trips from Fuerteventura
Already ticked off plenty of the best things to do on Fuerteventura and still have time to spare?
How about a day trip? Here are three great destinations you can easily reach from the island.
Kayak and Snorkeling Tour
What to expect: The kayak and snorkeling tour is a super cool way to experience Fuerteventura from the water. While kayaking, you’ll take in the views along the rocky coastline at La Lajita. A little further on, you’ll discover beaches and cliffs that are only reachable by sea. In between, you’ll stop for snorkeling and can spot fish and starfish in the clear water below.

Day Trip to Los Lobos
What to expect: Lobos is a tiny island just off Corralejo and one of the most popular day trip destinations from Fuerteventura. A typical day goes like this: you take the ferry about 20 minutes across to the island. In the morning, hike up the volcano (about one hour round trip) and then grab lunch. Afterward, kick back and relax on Playa de la Concha. Before catching the ferry back, explore the village of El Pueblito and the natural pools.
Our tip: Right after arriving, head straight to the small restaurant behind the dock and place your order — otherwise there won’t be anything left by lunchtime. Seriously, don’t skip this step!
Activity location: Starting from the port in Corralejo
Day Trip to Lanzarote
What to expect: Seen all the highlights on Fuerteventura and still can’t get enough? Then head over to Lanzarote. The island is defined by a dramatic volcanic landscape of black lava rock, whitewashed villages, vineyards set in moonlike terrain, and the artistic legacy of César Manrique — a truly unique blend of nature and culture.
Getting there: Lanzarote lies north of Fuerteventura and is easy to reach by ferry from Corralejo. One-way tickets start at €20, and the crossing takes about 35 minutes.

Tour alternative: You can also join a guided day tour. You’ll be picked up by bus from your hotel and taken to Lanzarote’s top sights — the most hassle-free option if you don’t want to plan it yourself.
