Water Taxi in Dubrovnik
Dubrovnik also has water taxis — similar to those you’d find on Malta, for example.
These are small boats or speedboats that take you from point A to point B across the water, instead of traveling overland by car or bus.
Water taxis are incredibly convenient, especially because Dubrovnik sits right on the water and is surrounded by beautiful islands and beaches that are hard — or even impossible — to reach from the mainland.
They usually depart from the old harbor in the Old Town or from other small harbors nearby, such as Lapad or Gruž. Popular destinations include Lokrum Island, just off the coast — you can get there in ten minutes.
Some taxis will also take you to hidden beaches, coves, or even just to a waterfront restaurant if that’s what you feel like.
You can either share a water taxi with other passengers — basically like a boat shuttle — or rent an entire boat privately. That’s more expensive, of course, but it means you get to set your own route and schedule.
