Historic Townhouse

Molenmeers Boutique Guesthouses

The lovingly restored Molenmeers Boutique Guesthouse sits right along the canals of Bruges — and it’s one of those places that genuinely earns its reputation as a local favorite. We loved it.

Old buildings often have the disadvantage of letting in very little light. Here it’s the complete opposite — so much natural light, lots of bright colors, and timeless décor. We’d move in immediately if we could.

The rooms strike the perfect balance between old and new. We especially love the breakfast room with its canal views and the in-house library, where you can feel like a true member of Bruges’ refined society for a little while.

Modern Meets Historic

Raphaëlles Boutique b&b

At Raphaëlles Boutique b&b you stay in a former doctor’s villa that’s been transformed into a genuinely elegant hideaway right in the heart of Bruges. Classic and charming on the outside, surprisingly modern on the inside — lots of velvet, warm lighting, and thoughtful details. It could easily make our Bruges insider tips list.

The rooms feel like little retreats. Light colors, fine materials, and a mix of historic elements and contemporary design.

Particularly cool: the quiet terrace and garden, which you’d never expect to find right in the middle of the historic center.

Our personal highlight, though, is the little “Velvet Bar” — the perfect spot to wind down the day with a glass of wine or a cocktail.

Right in the Park

Boutiquehotel 't Fraeyhuis

Boutiquehotel ′t Fraeyhuis sits right in Minnewater Park on the Minnewater — the Lake of Love. It’s especially peaceful and idyllic here.

And ′t Fraeyhuis fits perfectly into that setting. The ornate gabled rooflines, the many small windows, and the sweeping green spaces around the hotel all make for something wonderfully romantic.

Inside, though, it’s not quite as kitsch-romantic as you might expect. Surprise! Instead, the hotel goes rustic and modern, with the occasional vintage touch like old fireplaces and hand-painted tiles.

What we love most is the heated outdoor bar, where you can treat yourself to a drink or two in the evening before sinking into a cozy bed.

Best Views

The Pand Hotel

The Pand Hotel delivers Flemish coziness combined with the flair of a New York hotel from the 1920s.

It’s located right in the historic district of Bruges. From the outside it looks rather unassuming — but once you step inside, you won’t be able to stop marveling.

Warm colors, elegant furnishings, and large beds with curtains make sure you feel at home right away.

But the best part? From the windows and balcony you can look out over the rooftops of the old quarter and even spot the Bruges Belfry and the Basilica of the Holy Blood. That view is seriously unbeatable.

Medieval Atmosphere

Guest House Nuit Blanche

Guest House Nuit Blanche is one of the oldest buildings in the city, and both inside and out it leans fully into a medieval atmosphere. Rustic hardwood floors, wood paneling, ornate shutters, and massive stone fireplaces — all of it creates a truly special ambiance.

And as if that weren’t already enough, from Nuit Blanche you can look directly out at the Church of Our Lady and a large garden. The museums in Bruges are also just a short walk away.

Staying here feels like a journey back in time — without giving up any modern comforts. Perfect for a historic city break in Bruges.

Award-Winning and One of a Kind

Hotel Van Cleef

Hotel Van Cleef is modern luxury in the heart of Bruges’ old town. The genuinely tasteful décor reminds us of a blend of New York’s Upper East Side, London’s Mayfair, and Spanish grandeur. What a combination.

Here you’ll have breakfast overlooking the canal, enjoy an afternoon tea hour like in an English tearoom, and rest your head on designer pillows at night.

This concept of affordable luxury and impeccable comfort in a historic building has been so well received that Hotel Van Cleef has not only won Belgium’s Hospitality Award for Best Hotel Concept, but is also named by Michelin as the best 4-star hotel in Bruges. Seriously impressive.

Bruges' Most Famous House

B&B Guesthouse Bonifacius

Guesthouse Bonifacius in the heart of the old town isn’t just one of the best boutique hotels in Bruges — it’s also one of the city’s most-photographed landmarks. Small boats full of tourists drift by every day to get a look at the 16th-century building.

Inside, though, you won’t notice any of the fuss surrounding the place, and there’s none of the usual hotel hustle either. It’s quiet and intimate here — after all, there are only 3 rooms.

What you might hear occasionally are the creaking footsteps of other guests. But isn’t there something totally cool and authentic about that?

Creaking stairs and squeaky doors paired with a whirlpool tub and breakfast with a canal view. A truly special blend of historic charm and modern comfort.
