Anamcara Suites
The Anamcara Suites are our personal top pick among boutique hotels in La Palma. We stayed there on our last visit and absolutely loved it.
It’s not quite a classic boutique hotel in the traditional sense, since a few things you’d typically expect are missing: breakfast, a bar, a permanently staffed front desk.
If you can live without those, the Anamcara Suites are absolutely perfect. The rooms are huge and seriously stylish. Each suite has a living room with a kitchen and one or two bedrooms with comfortable beds.
There’s a pool, a fitness room, and a washing machine, and if you’d like, you can book in-room massages. The real standout, though, is the ocean view from every single room. Phenomenal!
The Anamcara Suites are located in the south of La Palma in a wonderfully quiet spot in the small village of Las Indias. Not much is within walking distance. By car, though, you’re just five minutes from several restaurants and a supermarket, and Santa Cruz is about a 40-minute drive away.
Banana Garden
The Banana Garden sits right in the heart of Santa Cruz and is a great pick if you want a central location with a real splash of island charm. This small boutique hotel is decorated with a lot of love — loads of plants, a really great breakfast with barista coffee, and a wonderful rooftop terrace to soak it all in.
The rooms aren’t huge, but they’re bright and lovely. You’re right in the historic center, with cafés and tapas bars just around the corner, and the beach is only a short walk away.
One thing to know: there’s no parking at the hotel since it sits in a pedestrian zone, so you’ll always need to walk a bit to your car. Overall, though, it’s a fantastic base for exploring the top attractions on La Palma.
Hotel San Telmo
Another great small hotel right in the heart of Santa Cruz. Hotel San Telmo is a stylishly updated property housed in an old Canarian townhouse — so you get character and comfort in one package.
It has good breakfast, rooms with ocean views, and a lovely rooftop terrace with a seriously nice outlook. The location in the old quarter is perfect for trying out Santa Cruz’s restaurants in the evening.
Among the best boutique hotels on La Palma, Hotel San Telmo is often the most affordable option — which makes it a really smart choice if you’re watching your budget.
Staying at the Barlovento Lighthouse
Have you always dreamed of spending the night in a lighthouse? Here’s your chance.
The Barlovento lighthouse at the northeastern tip of La Palma has three high-end suites, an infinity pool, and lovingly prepared breakfast every morning.
The nightly rates are on the higher end, but for one or two nights, it might just be worth the splurge. If you’re after total peace and quiet, this place delivers — and it’s honestly ideal for a romantic couples’ getaway!
Book a room at the Barlovento Lighthouse
Hacienda de Abajo (Adult only)
The Hacienda de Abajo wasn’t really an option for us, since we were traveling on La Palma with kids. It’s an adults-only hotel where guests must be at least 14 years old, located in the popular beach town of Tazacorte.
The decor leans heavily historic — you sometimes feel like you’ve wandered into an antique shop. That’s a matter of taste; personally, we prefer a more modern style.
What really stands out, though, is the restaurant — the food is excellent. And breakfast is naturally top-notch too!
