Getting to the Burj Khalifa
The Burj Khalifa is located in Downtown Dubai. Just a few years ago, this was little more than desert. Now it’s a forest of skyscrapers and massive shopping malls.
The red Metro line connects the Burj Khalifa directly to the airport, as well as to Deira and Bur Dubai. The stop is called Burj Khalifa / Dubai Mall.
The metro station is about 0.6 miles from the Burj Khalifa itself — but the entire walk runs through air-conditioned pedestrian tunnels, most of which have moving walkways. Totally manageable.
You can also take a taxi, which is a perfectly reasonable option. Rides in Dubai are relatively affordable.

What's the best time of day to visit the Burj Khalifa?
Honestly, it depends a lot on the weather. When visibility is clear, around sunset is genuinely magical.
We’d skip the blazing midday sun. It’s probably less crowded, but you’ll get the worst light for photos — and it’s just not that enjoyable.
Dubai at night is seriously stunning too. Either linger after sunset until it’s properly dark, or head up later in the evening for a full nighttime experience.
An evening visit pairs perfectly with the Dubai Fountain show at the base of the Burj Khalifa. Shows run daily between 6 PM and 11 PM, every 20 or 30 minutes depending on the season, and last about five minutes each.
How long can you stay on the Burj Khalifa observation deck?
Your time on the 124th/125th floor is unlimited.
You could theoretically book a cheaper ticket in the early afternoon and stay all the way through sunset — that’s totally allowed, though it might get a little slow after a few hours.
The 148th floor limits your stay to 30 minutes. In practice, though, this isn’t enforced all that strictly on-site.
After your time on the 148th floor, you can head down to the 124th/125th floor and stay as long as you like.
How early do I need to arrive for my time slot?
Arriving about ten to fifteen minutes before your slot is plenty. Everything on-site is really well organized and the whole process runs smoothly.
