The 12 Most Beautiful Beaches in Morocco on a Map
Our 12 picks for the most beautiful beaches in Morocco are spread across the country. You’ll find them along the Mediterranean coast, the northern Atlantic coast, the central Atlantic coast, and all the way down in the far south.
To give you a clear overview of where your potential favorite beach is located, we’ve marked all 12 of Morocco’s most beautiful beaches on a map.
Our tip: If you’re up for it, driving in Morocco makes it super easy to cruise from beach to beach at your own pace.
The Most Beautiful Beaches on Morocco's Mediterranean Coast
On Mallorca, Sicily, Malta, or Crete you’ll find stunningly beautiful Mediterranean beaches. Africa’s Mediterranean coast — at least in Morocco — unfortunately didn’t quite get its fair share of that beauty.
For us, there are only two beaches along the Mediterranean coast we can genuinely recommend:
- Saïdia Beach
- Tamuda Bay
Good to know: The water in the Mediterranean is warmer than in the Atlantic, and the climate has a Mediterranean character. That means Morocco is also a great travel destination in winter — it stays pleasantly warm and the water is perfect for swimming.
Saïdia Beach

What to expect: Almost at the Algerian border, way up in the northeast, lies the beach of Saïdia. It stretches more than 14 kilometers and the sand is incredibly fine — which is exactly why it’s long been considered one of Morocco’s most beautiful beaches. It’s rightfully called the Pearl of the Mediterranean. This popular seaside resort has a golf course, boutiques, restaurants, and a modern marina.
Our tip: If you’re visiting Morocco with kids, this beach is perfect. Unlike most spots on the Atlantic coast, Saïdia is flat with no strong waves — totally stress-free for families.
The Best Hotels near the Beach in Saïdia
In Saïdia you’ll mainly find small apartments. But there are also some solid mid-range hotels and a handful of luxury options — honestly, nothing too flashy.
Our favorite is the Bella Address Hotel Beach. A small, clean hotel with seriously great value for money. All rooms have sea views — perfect for a lovely vacation in Morocco by the sea.
Tamuda Bay

What to expect: Tamuda Bay is one of Morocco’s most exclusive beach destinations. Between the towns of Fnideq and Martil you’ll find luxury resorts, upscale residential developments, and a really solid tourist infrastructure. You can surf, sail, dive, ride jet skis, or splash around at the water park. The beach is only about 10 kilometers from the beautiful city of Tetouan.
Our tip: Tamuda Bay has a genuinely special location — it sits right in the middle of the Rif Mountains, part of Morocco’s Atlas Mountains. From here you can head out on great tours and hikes into the mountains. The beautiful city of Chefchaouen is also only about 60 kilometers away, along with the idyllic Akchour Waterfalls.
The Best Beachfront Hotels in Tamuda Bay
In Tamuda Bay you’ll mainly find upscale hotels with stunning pools and direct beach access. Our top pick is the The St. Regis La Bahia Blanca Resort.
But you can also enjoy beautiful Tamuda Bay on a smaller budget and still find a hotel right on the beach.
Beautiful Beaches on the Northern Atlantic Coast
Even during the best time to visit Morocco and peak season, the most beautiful beaches on the northern Atlantic coast stay relatively quiet.
That’s because this corner of the country is still pretty undiscovered by most vacationers — perfect for a relaxed, crowd-free beach vacation.
The two standout beaches on Morocco’s northern Atlantic coast are:
- Asilah Beach
- Beach in Oualidia
Asilah Beach

What to expect: Asilah is a small, low-key coastal town. In the old quarter you’ll find a beautiful Andalusian-Moroccan atmosphere, and a gorgeous sandy beach stretches right in front of the Portuguese fortress walls. The surrounding area has more great sandy beaches, rocky coves, and the surf beach Plage Sidi Mugait.
Our tip: Coming from Fès, Meknès, or Rabat, the beaches around Asilah are actually the most beautiful within reach of all three cities — though the drive still takes two and a half to four hours by car.
The Best Beachfront Hotels and Accommodations near Asilah Beach
At Asilah Beach you’ll find a real mix — simple accommodations, modern apartments, and beautiful Moroccan riads. Some are right on the beach, others are tucked into the old town.
We especially love the Riad Oasis D’asilah and the Darmimouna. Neither is right on the sea, but we really love the authentic and beautifully considered design of both.

Beach in Oualidia

What to expect: The beaches in the charming small town of Oualidia are a firm favorite with wealthy Moroccans. The sandy beaches sit inside a lagoon sheltered by a peninsula, which means gentle waves and calm water — something truly special on the Atlantic coast. It’s also one of the few spots here that’s genuinely great for kids.
Our tip: Oualidia is also known for its oyster farming. You can enjoy them incredibly fresh at the local seafood restaurants — seriously delicious!
The Best Beachfront Hotels at the Beach in Oualidia
The hotel selection in Oualidia isn’t huge. But with the La Villa Joubert we’ve found a truly beautiful beachfront hotel. A new, stylish villa with a pool and a really great price.
The Most Beautiful Beaches on the Central Atlantic Coast
If you ask us, the best beaches in Morocco are on the central Atlantic coast. There’s really something for everyone here.
You can surf Morocco’s best waves — one of the 14 coolest activities in Morocco — go sightseeing, and enjoy the perfect Moroccan beach vacation at popular seaside resorts.
The most beautiful beaches on Morocco’s central Atlantic coast are:
- Agadir Beach
- Banana Beach in Tamraght
- Surf beach in Taghazout
- Beach at Imsouane
- Essaouira Beach
Agadir Beach

What to expect: Agadir is probably the best-known destination for a beach vacation in Morocco. No wonder — with 300 sunny days a year, it’s the sunniest city in the country, and the 10-kilometer-long sandy beach is one of the finest in Morocco. A long promenade lined with hotels, restaurants, and a marina runs the length of the beach.
Our tip: Agadir is the perfect place to tack on a few relaxing days by the sea at the end of your Morocco road trip. The city has great flight connections from many European hubs.
The Best Agadir Hotels on the Beach
In Agadir you’ll find plenty of beachfront hotels — from budget to luxury. Our favorite is the Blue Waves Surf House. We love the minimalist boho design.
If you’re after a truly classic beach hotel in Agadir for a traditional sun-and-sea vacation, we’d suggest the Robinson Agadir — they also offer all-inclusive rooms.

Beach in Tamraght & Banana Beach

What to expect: Also hugely popular for a beach vacation in Morocco is the beach in Tamraght — especially Banana Beach, just 18 kilometers north of Agadir. The sandy beach is long, wide, and perfect for relaxing. This entire stretch of Atlantic coast is also extremely popular with surfers from all over the world, and for good reason: the waves are perfect.
Our tip: Above the beach there are a few great restaurants with perfect views of the sea and the sunset. We really love Café Hey Yallah (open in Google Maps) — great coffee, plus vegan homemade muffins and cakes. Highly recommended!
The Best Hotels by the Sea in Tamraght
Accommodations in Tamraght are genuinely affordable compared to other beach destinations. Great value for money can be found at the Riad Searenity. The highlight is the rooftop terrace with sea views.

Surf Beach in Taghazout

What to expect: Our personal favorite surf spot in Morocco is Taghazout. From Banana Beach in Tamraght, just keep walking north — after about 4 kilometers you’ll reach Taghazout Beach. So it’s really one long, beautiful stretch of coastline. Here you can swim, surf, and take long walks along the shore.
Our tip: Taghazout Beach is especially beautiful in the evening. The sun sets right over the Atlantic — absolutely breathtaking. You get a great vantage point from the terrace of restaurant Windy Bay (open in Google Maps), where you can get breakfast all day, poke bowls, fish, tajine, or even pizza.
The Best Accommodations at the Surf Beach in Taghazout
You’ll find the perfect place to stay in Taghazout no matter your style or budget. A really cool option is Taghazout Life. We love the surfer vibes, the minimalist style, and the sea view from the rooftop terrace.

In two articles we’ve put together all the info, our best tips for visiting Taghazout, and all our hotel recommendations:
Beach at Imsouane

What to expect: Another surfer’s paradise is the fishing village of Imsouane, which is said to have one of the longest waves in the world — incredible! The beach here is smaller, and alongside surfers you’ll find plenty of locals. Imsouane isn’t your typical beach resort — not yet, anyway, as a lot of construction is currently underway.
Our tip: The harbor with all its fishing boats is really beautiful too! Sit down at one of the many restaurants, pick out a fresh fish right at the counter, and have it grilled on the spot. Seriously delicious!
The Best Hotels by the Sea in Imsouane
No matter what price range you book in Imsouane, you won’t escape the surf vibes — and honestly, we love it. Surfboards, boho style, and a laid-back atmosphere everywhere you look.
One of our favorite beachfront hotels in Morocco is The O Experience. The rooms are decorated with real care, the food is delicious, and the location right on the sea is a dream.

Essaouira Beach

What to expect: In Essaouira you’ll find a long, wide sandy beach where kids play, surfers ride waves, and camels wander past — a truly cool scene. But the city itself and the sights in Essaouira are just as impressive. You can stroll through authentic alleyways, explore galleries, or go shopping.
Our tip: Essaouira is perfect for a day trip from Marrakech or a short beach getaway. Head to the fishing harbor in the morning — that’s when the fish market is in full swing and you can watch the fishermen bring in their catch. Then eat the fish at a spot like Restaurant Adwak — highly recommended!
The Best Accommodations in Essaouira
We love the lodging options in Essaouira. Unlike other beach destinations, there are many riads here — small, authentic guesthouses. The riads in Essaouira can easily hold their own against the beautiful riads in Marrakech and the riads in Fès.
A top recommendation is the Riad Kafila. It’s one of the few beautiful riads in Essaouira with sea views — the beach vibes here are unlike anywhere else.
Since we really fell in love with Essaouira, we’ve put together our highlights and hand-picked the nine most beautiful riads in two dedicated articles.
Beautiful Beaches on Morocco's Southern Atlantic Coast
Not many tourists make it to southern Morocco, but there are three truly beautiful beaches here. And what’s really cool: the desert practically reaches the coast. For a proper desert tour in Morocco — such as the popular desert near Merzouga or the lesser-known Erg Chegaga Desert — you’ll need to keep driving inland.
In front of the vast, barren desert landscape stretch equally endless white sandy beaches — absolutely stunning. Some of the coastal towns now have pretty solid infrastructure too.
The three most beautiful beaches on Morocco’s southern Atlantic coast are:
- Legzira Beach
- Sidi Ifni & Plage Blanche
- Dakhla Beach
Legzira Beach

What to expect: Legzira Beach is a true natural wonder. Along the long sandy beach, four massive rock arches create a spectacular sight, and the entire landscape is a fantastic photography subject. It’s really one of the most beautiful beaches in Morocco. At the cove you’ll find small cafés, restaurants, and surf shops.
Our tip: Another highlight at Legzira Beach is paragliding over the beach. If you’re not planning a full stay here, you can also make a great day trip from Agadir.
The Best Hotels Right on Legzira Beach
You can’t really do a full beach vacation at Legzira Beach — there are barely any hotels. The only accommodation we can recommend right at the beach is the Auberge Sable D’Or. Simple, but right on the sea.
Otherwise, we’d recommend basing yourself in Sidi Ifni (beach number 11) and making a day trip to Legzira Beach — it even works great by bike.
Sidi Ifni & Plage Blanche

What to expect: Drive 10 kilometers south of Legzira Beach and you’ll reach Sidi Ifni. The small town sits on a rocky plateau above the sea and is perfect for a relaxed beach vacation. You’ll find elegant Art Deco buildings and a long beachside promenade running alongside the sandy-pebble beach. The town is said to be the gateway to the Sahara.
Our tip: Even better than the beach in Sidi Ifni are the beaches in the surrounding area, easily reachable from town. The most famous is Plage Blanche, 30 kilometers to the south. With 150 kilometers of pristine white sand, it’s one of the longest and most beautiful beaches in Morocco.
The Best Accommodations in Sidi Ifni & Plage Blanche
In Sidi Ifni you’ll find mostly simple, small accommodations. Many of them are really cozy and charming, mostly located in the town itself — not far from the sea.
We especially love the minimalist maritime boho design of the El Moja Surfhouse. Every detail here is decorated with real care.

Dakhla Beach

What to expect: Way down in the south, on a peninsula, lies Dakhla — a truly beautiful, unspoiled beach destination in Morocco. In the lagoon you’ll find sea turtles, seals, dolphins, and numerous migratory birds including flamingos. The city of Dakhla has an oriental flair and really solid infrastructure for a beach vacation.
Our tip: The wind conditions in Dakhla are perfect for windsurfers and kitesurfers year-round. The area is considered one of the best kite spots in the world, and international competitions are held here every year. Perfect if you already enjoy one of these sports — or want to give them a try.
The Best Beachfront Hotels at the Beach in Dakhla
If you’re after unique hotels by the sea in Morocco, Dakhla is exactly the right place. You’ll find luxury hotels as well as cool, more affordable options.
We really love the Dakhla South Bay. A hotel right on the beach — with modern, minimalist design and a beautiful pool.
