In a nutshell

  • Are you looking for a cool boutique hotel in Barcelona? Perfect! We’ve picked out seven truly special hotels for you. They all have awesome designs and are perfectly located to visit the city’s top attractions.
  • Our favorite is Antiga Casa Buenavista. We love its central yet quiet location in the Old Town, the rooftop pool, and the family-run hotel restaurant.
  • If you want to stay in less touristy neighborhoods, The Hoxton and Hotel Brummell are perfect for you. Both are a bit less central but have excellent public transport connections.

  • Central yet quiet
  • Chic room design
  • Small rooftop pool
  • Family-run hotel restaurant

For us, Antiga Casa Buenavista is the best boutique hotel in Barcelona. It’s centrally located but still quiet, right on the edge of the Old Town.

Many of Barcelona’s attractions are within walking distance. The famous Mercat de la Boqueria, for example, is just a 13-minute walk away. For highlights a bit further out, you can easily rent an electric scooter at the hotel.

After your sightseeing tour, you can cool off in the small rooftop pool. The elegant room design is also a highlight, with many glass elements that give it a unique touch.

The food at Antiga Casa Buenavista is fantastic too. In the mornings, you’ll enjoy a really diverse breakfast buffet, and in the evenings, the family-run hotel restaurant serves delicious local cuisine.

  • Centrally located in Eixample
  • Rooftop terrace
  • Focus on sustainability
  • Free bike rental

Located in the heart of the modern Eixample districtHotel Casa Bonay is in a prime spot to explore the Old Town and Barcelona’s top attractions on foot.

At Casa Bonay, they really focus on a trendy, Mediterranean design. The rooms feature colorful mosaic floors, and on the rooftop terrace, you’ll find cozy rattan furniture at the bar and restaurant.

What we love even more than the design is the hotel’s commitment to sustainability. For example, they use a lot of local and seasonal ingredients, and they offer free bike rentals for their guests.

On weekends, they even offer yoga classes on the rooftop. Yoga with a view – pretty cool, right?

  • Next to Montjuïc
  • Only 20 rooms
  • Outdoor area with small pool
  • Offers bike rental
  • Great value for money

We absolutely love cozy hotels with a family atmosphere, and that’s exactly the case with Hotel Brummell. With its 20 rooms, it’s one of the smaller boutique hotels in Barcelona. However, you won’t have to miss out on a lovely outdoor area with a pool.

It’s also a surprisingly cheap boutique hotel in Barcelona, making it a great option for those on a budget who still don’t want to miss out on style and comfort.

Hotel Brummell is perfect for you if you want to stay somewhere not in the hustle and bustle, but still close to the city center. It’s located in El Poble-sec, a somewhat quieter, very authentic neighborhood in Barcelona.

The city mountain Montjuïc is practically right next to the hotel. And you can walk to the lower end of the Rambla, near Barcelona’s harbor, in about 15 minutes.

Other attractions in the Old Town are a bit further on foot, but the connection to Barcelona’s public transport is excellent. The nearest metro station is just a 5-minute walk from the hotel. Alternatively, you can rent bikes at the hotel.

  • Most central boutique hotel
  • Next to the Gothic Quarter
  • Modern decor
  • Rooftop terrace

You really can’t get more central than staying at the Yurbban Ramblas Boutique Hotel. It’s located right on La Rambla, and most of the city’s top attractions are just a few minutes’ walk away.

Despite its central location, the rooms are quiet, thanks to excellent soundproofing in the windows.

We also really like the room decor, which is mainly black and white, giving it a very modern and sleek feel. However, the highlight of this cool boutique hotel in Barcelona is the rooftop terrace with a fantastic view of the city.

Super convenient: The central transportation hub Plaça de Catalunya is just 100 meters from the hotel. If you are traveling from El Prat Airport to the city, the Aerobus shuttle stops here. And if you want to take a hop-on hop-off tour of Barcelona, you can board directly at the same spot.

We are big fans of the cozy rooms at The Hoxton (© The Hoxton, Poblenou)
  • In the trendy Poblenou district
  • Family rooms available
  • Rooftop pool
  • Free bike rental
  • Free private parking

The Hoxton is the perfect design hotel in Barcelona for you if you like to stay off the beaten track. It’s located a little outside the city center in the Poblenou neighborhood, which is still a hidden gem in Barcelona.

However, the connection to the city center is great, as the nearest metro station is just steps away from the hotel. If you’re up for a more active option, you can rent bikes for free at the hotel.

The whole place is stylish yet cozy. They even have large family rooms, which is a big plus if you’re traveling to Barcelona with kids.

Our highlight? The rooftop terrace with a bar and pool. From here, you get an amazing view of the Sagrada Família.

And if you’re traveling by car, you can park it in the hotel’s free underground garage. That’s pretty rare for boutique hotels in Barcelona.
