Beach Vacation in Bali
You can enjoy a beach vacation in Bali almost anywhere on the island. But for us, there are four standout places for the best beach experiences:
- Uluwatu: a surfer’s paradise with the most beautiful beaches in Bali
- Nusa Penida and Nusa Lembongan: stunning offshore islands with gorgeous beaches
- Amed: peaceful and still largely untouched by tourism
You’ll find our favorite beach hotels in Bali for each of these locations below.
If you’re visiting just for a beach vacation, you can simply book any of our favorite beachfront hotels in Bali.
Want to see more of the island? Then add a few days in Ubud in central Bali. A hotel in Ubud is the perfect base for exploring Bali’s waterfalls, temples, and rice terraces.
Or you can weave your beach vacation right into our Bali round trip itinerary. The route already includes Uluwatu and Nusa Penida. In our opinion, these are home to the best beaches in Bali. Just plan a few extra days at one or both spots.

The Room

You can’t miss the color orange at The Room. The small hotel houses are all painted in bright orange, giving the place a cheerful and cool vibe.
But don’t worry, the rooms themselves aren’t overwhelming. They’re bright, simple and thoughtfully designed, with just a few colorful accents. One of our favorite features are the semi-open bathrooms with their rustic look. It feels both cozy and stylish. During the day, you can relax by the pool and admire the cool architecture of the little houses.
Of course, the real highlight is the location: the hotel sits right on Padang-Padang Beach, one of the best beaches in Uluwatu. It’s also perfect if you want to learn to surf. There’s a small entrance fee of about 15.000 IDR for the beach.
Rock'n Reef

The Rock’n Reef is one of the best beach resorts in Bali with its very own private beach. The hotel is built in tiers right into the cliffside, with the beach as the final level. You really can’t get any closer to the ocean.
This beachfront gem is also one of our favorite hotel tips for Uluwatu. The maritime-style decor is full of character and attention to detail. The property consists of several bungalows perched on the cliffs, each with its own balcony overlooking the sea.
When the tide comes in and the beach disappears, you can cool off in the small pool overlooking the ocean.
Keep in mind that due to the steep cliffs, you can’t drive right up to the hotel in Bali. You’ll need to walk down a few steps, but there’s a luggage service to help with your bags.
Alana Penida Hotel

Alana Penida Hotel is our clear best value pick and one of the best hotels in Bali. You’ll stay in a cozy room with ocean views just steps from the sand.
Guests sleep in small villas, either upstairs or downstairs, all arranged around a pool. Some rooms offer partial sea views. But since the beach is less than a minute away from your terrace, that’s hardly a downside.
Everything here feels new and fresh. The hotel has opened at the end of 2023. It’s located in the east of Nusa Penida, a beautiful area we also recommend in our hotel tips for Nusa Penida.
La Plage Onirique Beachfront

Dreaming of a private beach hotel in Bali? Then La Plage Onirique Beachfront is the perfect hotel for you. Here, you can experience Bali off the beaten track, far away from the crowds.
This small, African-inspired beach house has a double bedroom, a compact kitchen and a beautiful terrace just a few steps from the ocean. It’s only about 10 meters from your bed to the water – pure barefoot luxury.
Right in front of the house, there’s a fantastic snorkeling spot with colorful coral and plenty of tropical fish. Snorkeling equipment can be rented directly at the accommodation.

Pramana Natura

Pramana Natura isn’t a typical beach hotel. It doesn’t have a beach, but it’s located right by the sea. And with its breathtaking ocean views, we couldn’t leave it off the list. On lucky days, you might even spot dolphins from your balcony.
You can choose between a suite or an entire villa. Each villa comes with a private pool, while suite guests can enjoy the stunning infinity pool.
The rooms are designed in a light, maritime style and offer sea views from every window. This little piece of paradise is one of our favorite boutique hotels in Bali.
Water Blow Huts

Water Blow Huts is one of our favorite beach hotels in Bali because it’s located directly on one of the island’s most stunning beaches: Dream Beach on Nusa Lembongan. This small bay has a wide sandy beach and crystal-clear water – perfect for a refreshing dip. Just be careful not to go too far out because of the currents.
The hotel has its own private stretch of beach. So you’ll always find a quiet spot even when Dream Beach gets busier. It’s also the perfect place to watch the sunset. There’s a pool with amazing sea views too.
The best part? The Water Blow Huts offer all this at a super affordable price. You’ll stay in your own private bungalow and can choose between a garden or ocean view.
Aslin Villa

In Amed, we’ve found a gorgeous private villa right on the beach for you. The Aslin Villa has two bedrooms, a large lawn with pool and a barbecue area. It’s a perfect Bali hotel for families or small groups.
The villa is located directly by the sea. Although the beach itself isn’t ideal for sunbathing, you can relax on the loungers by the pool and easily go for a swim in the ocean. It’s also a great snorkeling spot. With a bit of luck, you might even spot a sea turtle. Snorkeling gear can be rented on site.
A special bonus: every morning, the hosts prepare fresh breakfast for you, even though you have the whole villa to yourself.
