There are three city passes for Athens:

• Athens Digital Pass

With all Athens tourist passes, you can visit the included attractions within a set time window.

Which highlights are included varies from pass to pass — and so does the timeframe you have to use them.

Which Athens city pass is worth it the most?

In most cases, the Athens combination ticket is your best bet. It gets you into the Acropolis and six other archaeological sites, and you’ll pay significantly less than buying each ticket separately.

The other two Athens city passes are only worth the price if you’re planning to pack in a serious number of attractions. Otherwise, individual tickets will cost you less.

Who shouldn’t bother with an Athens city pass?

In some cases, none of the passes really make sense:

• If you’re visiting Athens from November through March: Admission prices at many highlights are cut in half during winter, so none of the passes are really worth it.
• For visitors under 25: You already get free admission to some attractions — including the Acropolis — anyway.
• For seniors over 65: Same deal as for under-25s.

With the Athens combination ticket, you get free admission to the Acropolis and 6 other archaeological sites.

It’s valid for 5 days, costs €30 on-site and €36 online. No discounts are available with the combination ticket.

The combination ticket pays for itself in summer even if you only visit the Acropolis and one other archaeological site — which basically means it’s almost always worth it.

In winter, it’s not worth it.

Your best move is to book the Athens combination ticket online in advance. It’s slightly more expensive that way, but you’ll have everything ready to go the moment you arrive in Athens.

Alternatively, you can buy it in Athens at any of the included attractions. Our tip: head to Hadrian’s Library — it’s centrally located and the ticket booths there are usually quiet.

Turbopass Athens

You buy the Turbopass for Athens for a specific time period (1–6 days).

If you buy it for two days, for example, you can visit all the included attractions across those two days.

You’ll pay a few extra euros, but you won’t have to think about anything once you’re there — just walk straight into every attraction.

The real advantage of the Turbopass is that it covers more must-sees than any other Athens pass. Even the Athens hop-on/hop-off bus and, if you want, public transportation are included.

This gets you free admission to various attractions across the city.

It covers the same highlights as the combination ticket, plus the Acropolis Museum.
