In a nutshell

What is Wondr Experience?

It’s not that easy to explain what Wondr Experience actually is.

A museum? A playground for kids and adults alike? A photo backdrop?

It’s probably a little bit of everything. On the Wondr Experience website, it’s described as a place that’s all about fun. And that pretty much nails it.

At Wondr Experience Amsterdam, you walk through different rooms and settings where you can take photos and have a great time. You can jump into a ball pit, grab a microphone and take the stage, or bounce around on a bouncy castle.

That sounds like a giant playground for kids. And yes, kids absolutely love it. But the place is actually designed primarily for adults who want to let their inner child run free again.

Our Review of Wondr Experience

What Does a Visit to Wondr Experience Look Like?

When you arrive at the entrance, the first thing you get is a key for a locker where you can store your jackets and bags.

The individual rooms follow a set route. You move from one room to the next, but you can’t go back.

Each room offers a new world to explore. Many of them have built-in cameras. With your ticket, you can activate these cameras and snap fun photos of yourself.

After your visit, you’ll receive a link by email where you can download all the photos from your visit for free. You only pay if you want prints made on-site.

Our Experience at Wondr Experience

We visited Wondr Amsterdam with 2 kids aged 5 and 2 and had an absolute blast.

We arrived on a Sunday morning at 11:00 AM. At that time, it was still really quiet. By the time we left about an hour and a half later, it had gotten noticeably busier. Getting there early is definitely worth it.

The absolute highlight for the kids was of course the ball pit — we easily spent half an hour in there alone. But all the other rooms were great too: the confetti shower, the light show, the flower room with fun costumes, and the marshmallow bath with a slide. So much to discover.

We don’t want to give away too much about the individual rooms — just check out the photos and let yourself be surprised.

The price is on the steeper side. As a family of four, you can easily spend €100.

But at the end of the day, you’ll walk away with some truly awesome family photos you simply can’t get anywhere else. In our opinion, that makes it totally worth it!

Extra Tip: Barbie: The Dream Experience

Right next to WONDR Experience, you’ll also find Europe’s only official Barbie experience, Barbie: The Dream Experience. We haven’t been there yet, but we’re definitely planning to check it out on our next visit.

You can dive into Barbie’s pink world and explore 12 interactive themed rooms with professional photo spots, including Malibu, a ’90s hair salon, the pink Corvette, and Barbie’s horses.

Just like at WONDR Experience, you can take home digital photos for free as a souvenir. There’s also a Barbie Café with a kids’ menu and a shop with exclusive Barbie merchandise.

Getting There

Wondr Experience is located in Amsterdam Noord. From the outside, it’s a fairly unremarkable hall on a street in the middle of a residential neighborhood.

Getting there by public transit in Amsterdam is super easy. Take the Metro M52 to Noorderpark station, which is one stop after Amsterdam Centraal.

From there, it’s about a ten-minute walk.
