- In this article, we introduce you to 7 beautiful, affordable wellness hotels in South Tyrol that won’t cost you a fortune. Our personal favorite is the Hotel Amaten.
- We’ll also share our best insider tips on how to score real bargains — from booking in the off-season to looking beyond the tourist hotspots.
Schlossberg
The Schlossberg is a genuinely affordable wellness hotel in South Tyrol. It’s located in the rather lesser-known Passeier Valley — you’ll be staying well off the beaten tourist path.
The hotel is small and cozily decorated. If you’re not expecting luxury but simply want to unwind, this is exactly the right place for you.
Since the hotel sits a bit above the village, you’ll be treated to stunning views — especially from the sun terrace. There’s also a great indoor pool, a Finnish sauna, and additional excellent wellness facilities.
Parking is free. It’s also a fantastic hotel for an overnight stay if you’re traveling by bicycle or motorcycle.
Hotel Amaten
The Hotel Amaten is one of our absolute top picks for a budget spa hotel in South Tyrol. It’s set in peaceful natural surroundings about 7 kilometers from Bruneck.
The hotel offers a truly beautiful wellness area, cozily decorated rooms, and gorgeous views — and all of this at a totally fair price.
A delicious breakfast and parking are included. We strongly recommend arriving by car, as getting to the hotel without one is quite difficult.
With a car, though, the location is fantastic — you can quickly reach famous highlights like Lake Braies and the Three Peaks.
Hotel Appartement Haus Gitschberg
The Haus Gitschberg is a real bargain for a wellness hotel in South Tyrol. It’s located in the beautiful Pfunderer Valley — a rather secluded valley in South Tyrol.
If you’re not expecting a massive spa area but are happy with a sauna and a lovely whirlpool, this hotel is a great option.
We especially love that the hotel is incredibly dog-friendly. Free parking is available here as well.
A delicious breakfast is included in the price, and in the evenings you can order a freshly made pizza at the hotel.

Appartement- und Wellnesshotel Winkler
The Wellnesshotel Winkler is affordable and at the same time a great family hotel in South Tyrol. There are large apartments with plenty of room for the whole family. Kids can also have fun in the children’s corner and on the playground with a trampoline.
The indoor pool is also great for playing around, but you can relax there too — for example after a sauna session in the lovely wellness area.
The atmosphere at the hotel is very family-oriented and the service is excellent. Breakfast is also top-notch, and in the evenings the Italian restaurant serves wood-fired pizza.

Hotel Berghang
The Hotel Berghang is a lovely little hotel with a pool in South Tyrol and genuinely affordable on top of that — especially if you book during the off-season.
Since it’s a family-run hotel, the service and atmosphere are wonderfully personal. The location in Steinegg near Bolzano, with the Dolomites right on your doorstep, is also seriously hard to beat.
The wellness area includes a whirlpool and a sauna, but you can also relax by the outdoor pool. Breakfast is included in the price, and in the evenings the Astra Restaurant serves a really delicious dinner.
Feldmilla Design Hotel
If you’re hunting for a cheap spa hotel in South Tyrol during the off-season, the Feldmilla Design Hotel is an excellent choice — the value for money is great and you can often find really good deals here.
The hotel features several saunas, whirlpools, and a fitness center. The rooms also offer a ton of space, and some come with really beautiful balconies.
A very cool extra: you get a complimentary afternoon snack in the lovely hotel lounge.
Residence Hotel Alpinum
The Residence Hotel Alpinum is centrally located in the charming village of Sand in Taufers. The surrounding area offers great day-trip destinations for kids, such as the Reinbach Waterfalls.
But the hotel itself is also wonderful for a family vacation. From spacious apartments and family rooms to complimentary cribs, kids are very welcome here.
The wellness area is small but well-equipped, with a Turkish steam bath and a sauna — and there’s also a lovely indoor pool.
How to Find Great Affordable Wellness Hotels in South Tyrol
#1 Book During the Off-Season
During the off-season in South Tyrol, you have a much better chance of finding affordable wellness hotels than during peak season.
The off-season in most areas runs from roughly late March to late May and from late September to early December.
In towns that aren’t as close to ski resorts — such as Lake Caldaro — you can also find good deals in January and February.
#2 Book Last Minute
Almost everywhere, the advice is to book as early as possible — and we generally recommend that for South Tyrol too. When we say book early here, though, we mean about a year in advance.
If you can’t or don’t want to plan that far ahead, it’s often worth booking just a few days before your trip. So if you spontaneously feel like a vacation in South Tyrol, just check the booking platforms or contact your favorite hotel directly.
#3 Be Flexible with Your Travel Dates
Hotel prices in South Tyrol — as pretty much everywhere — fluctuate. One night might be wildly overpriced while prices drop again the very next day.
That’s why it always pays to be flexible with your exact check-in and check-out dates.
#4 Book New Hotels
The selection of hotels in South Tyrol is huge, and new properties open every year in various places throughout South Tyrol. Often, prices are still quite low shortly after opening. So it’s worth doing a quick search to see which hotels are new on the scene.
#5 Look Beyond the Tourist Hotspots
Finding an affordable hotel right in the center of Bolzano or Merano is tough. But if you look beyond the usual tourist hotspots, prices drop considerably — in the Ahrntal valley or the Vinschgau, for example, you’ll always find solid deals.
